Thanks for the lovely receptionist at the surgery, who bypassed the "system" for prescribing dressings for my guest, and got a prescription based on the old one signed for me to take straight over to the chemist - we should have them by Monday when the nurses come. (See TICTH thread for the dark side of this story.)
This is an update on M, T and B, for whom I've asked for prayers in the past. T is the daughter, whose eating disorder came to light fairy recently. M & B are her parents. They are going to a support group, which initially overwhelmed M, my friend, and B her husband by its presentation of the disorder and their part in supporting their daughter, which is why I asked for your prayers. I am happy to report that they are finding it more supportive and slightly less overwhelming, and that the imperative to communicate with each other and, fitfully, with their daughter is having a positive effect on all the relationships between them. It also seems to be supporting T in developing all sides of herself (she is 15 now, and therefore participating actively in the process, which is a challenge for all concerned in itself) and learning to manage food with some confidence, as well her parents (!)
Thanks for the healing so far, and prayers that it will, on balance, continue.
I'm safely back from doing the wheelchair distribution in Kenya- as I've said on our blog there were many instances which carried with them a real sense of provision, both on a personal and on a wider level.
Given this is not an easy time with my wider family in the run up to my Mum's funeral I am very thankful to have had this special time.
So much sad news everywhere, but I have two pieces of rejoicing to add. D, son of a very long-time friend J, has just amazed his mother by sending her a video clip of his wedding to his long-term girlfriend - he's working in the States so this sorts out her visa problem, but they don't look like a couple doing any of it for the wrong reasons. J's thrilled as she never thought it would happen.
And for the same reason, I am happy to be at liberty to tell you that The Former Miss S and SiL are expecting a second child, due in August All blood tests have come back clear. We are all delighted!

Mrs. S, rapturous
This is wonderful news! I'm thrilled for you and all the Intrepid Family!
Excellent new Mrs S. My bit of good news is that my lovely brother in law and his long term partner have decided to get married. I'm so pleased for them both. She has been married before and always said she didn't want to bother a second time!
The North East Man's plane home was due in to Aberdeen at 9.50 last night. Five flights prior to his had been diverted due to fog. His was one of five circling the airport waiting for the fog to clear. They had been told that if they couldn't land they were going to be going to Newcastle (!) Finally, the first of the five landed, then the second, the third. The North East Man had been circling for an hour by this point, but was "on approach" when the fourth plane had a bird strike. Further circling. He landed at 11.05, after 1 hr an 15 mins of circling.
Even the fact that it cost me £13 (£13!!!) in parking charges whilst I waited for him couldn't dampen the joy of having him safely landed! (£13! for 90 mins parking!)
Every day, I thank God for giving us all the brilliant scientists and the wonder-drugs they discover for us. Thanks to Abilify my son leads a very normal life in spite of his illness, and yesterday for the second time in my life, Dr Fleming and his penicillin saved me from sepsis.
This time yesterday, I was lying in bed, thinking I was probably dying but too sick to motivate myself up to go to the doctor, when said son, drug me out and drove me to Urgent Care, where it was discovered I had a high temperature and a severe case of strep throat (unusual in a 72 year-old!) Thanks to drugs, I'm up this morning able to sit at the computer and ready to start a fight in Hell!
Praise for friends. Just been away for a lovely weekend visiting friends and it made me realise how good it is just to chat, catch up and general get out of my day to day rut.
Hurrah for advances in medicine and doctors abilities @Twilight.
Without boring you-all with too much detail, thank you God for placing me this evening, unexpectedly, in a session on forgiveness, which has finally allowed me to forgive my errant, alcoholic, deceased brother for any wrong he ever did me.
What pain he caused others is not my issue to deal with. Thank you Lord.
Today especially, I'm grateful for the local YMCA - the Young Men's Christian Association. I'm just back from working out in the gym there in the company of a lot of friendly people, young and old, who clearly want to be identified as Muslims. My admittedly simple mind can't comprehend how there could possibly be fear and hatred to separate us.
P&T for the fact that, since Father NewPriest's arrival, our Sunday congregation has increased by about 50%.
Before anyone gets too excited, this means 20 (!) is now 30 (!), which, for a very small backstreet UPA Anglo-Catholic parish in Ukland, is Not Too Bad. It does make for a real feel-good factor, though.
I suppose if Mrs. S. can be grateful for Wales's Grand Slam*, there's no reason why I shouldn't be grateful that because we were the holders before yesterday's draw, Scotland can hang on to the Calcutta Cup.

Good news to hear on a very grey morning down here. We need more rain and in more places but it is wet here

* I always imagined you were English. Oops ...
Born in Wales to Welsh parents, left after 18 months or so - and only prevented from playing for them by a complete and utter lack of talent!
And yes, what an amazing turnaround! Rugby is indeed a fascinating game...

I think maybe as far as the Six Nations is concerned, not being a bloke might have a bearing as well ...
Oh I don't know. The women do it pretty well nowadays too. It is some small consolation that England's women's team won their Six Nations, beating Scotland in the final part of their Grand Slam and gaining try bonus points in all five games.
Frivolous tangent warning: Maybe I've been away too long... Whatever else the Six Nations (http://www.sixnations.ca/) do, around here they don't play much Rugby.
A friend has got her Doctorate. For those who think this is minor, she started it maybe twenty years ago or more. Two universities, several life changes and in recent years coping for a frail mum and she has got it.

@North East Quine I'm glad you got him safely home.
We may have to run to keep up with him, but Fr G has already made his mark....

She's a tall, long-legged, well-built lassie (let the reader understand), and AFAIK would like to carry on as a sports trainer when she graduates.
FWIW, the Family is Jolly Proud of her!
He's still having to spend a lot of time lying on his side, which must be ruinously booooooring, but...
