    Excellent news, Mrs. S!

More joy - we finally completed on the sale of The Dowager's house today, only 10 months after agreeing the price! I am more relieved than I can say

What excellent news! I know how very stressful the whole house buying/selling thing can be.

I'll raise a glass of red this evening to help you celebrate! It's a tough task, but someone has to do it.
  • Thanks for your support, @Nenya ! We had a Nyonya lamb curry for supper, Nyonya being a term of respect for a female elder meaning 'Auntie' in that particular culture (just don't ask me which!) so I naturally thought of you

As it was only a virtual hangover, @Piglet , the virtual solpadeine will do nicely
  • Great news!

Thanks and praise for continued, safe employment and a rather full schedule, just as I was hoping for.

I work for state schools in Continental WesShire, which - great gratefulness already! - are reliable and fairly well-paid positions, but with current virus situation, we were not sure if we could run all courses this year. But is seems we can, and that's a great relief for everyone.

Deep gratitude and relief. Thank you, Lord!

A small thing but so much gratitude for cold, garlicky, spicy leftover food with a hangover! It hit the spot like nothing else.

And grateful that I am not going to see anyone else for the rest of today so can relax with garlic breath without concern.

Praise and thanksgiving to Our Lady of the Baseball Bat and all of you who sent thoughts, lit votives and mentioned me in prayers
I just received word the Exceptions Committee has approved an extension of my permit!

Very good, Helix, whom on this occasion we can truly call 'Felix'! :)

Excellent, Galilit! Praise and thanksgiving verily permitted! :)

    <votive> of praise and thanksgiving

    Alleluia, @Galilit, what a relief!
  • My good friend A, who recently had surgery for a difficult dose of colon cancer, had a phone call from the surgeon who sounded quite astonished, saying that there was no trace whatever of the cancer to be found, so he's gone from stage III to NED in a couple of weeks. Can hardly wait to be on the road with him again! (Maybe not literally just yet, but it's the thought that counts).

    Wow, ST - that's wonderful!

Glory to God! I have heard of other such miracles, but only when the patient and/or family has been praying fervently to a chosen saint. To whom (or what?) does your friend credit his recovery?
  • GalilitGalilit Shipmate
    Super news!
  • I may have sent an incomplete (and somewhat Biblical!) message with my last post... 'A' did indeed go through with the surgery, but the rejoicing was for the fact that it went so well and the recovery was so fast and complete. The surgeon was indeed astonished at what was achieved - it was unusual in his experience, and A has no doubt that being held in the prayers of many had quite a lot to do with it.

I think that still counts as a genuine miracle, Stercus Tauri! <3

    Deo gratias for A’s miracle!
  • A small thing in the context of all the greater things, but for the first time Little Miss S, my little Welsh granddaughter, has slept through the night for four consecutive nights! In her own cot! In her own room!

    Deo gratias indeed

I bet it's not a small thing for her parents. May she continue to do so.
  • PuzzlerPuzzler Shipmate
Indeed. I well remember that it was four years before my own daughter slept through “ all night, own bed” as we used to urge her.

I think I was the worst child in our family for just one last appearance, and I was older than 4. Poor Mum and Dad.

Having had an estimate of the cost of a scale and polish of my cat's teeth, I give P&T for human dentistry, and that my own dental costs are so much cheaper (admittedly, I don't need to be sedated for a scale and polish, but even so....)

A big thank-you to the lovely man who handed in my eftpos card to the desk at the copy centre, then when I returned to the copy machine (without realising I'd lost it) asked me if I banked with Kiwibank and if I might have mislaid my card. :relieved:

I might add that I had only had said card for a week - it being a replacement for another one.🙄

I have a new and wonderful volunteer for a position in church that has been filled very badly by others. And one of our families has a new baby after a bad time with older people dying.
  • Good news @ClericalError , and welcome to the ship.
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
Welcome indeed, Clerical Error (v. cool name)!

Pop into the Welcome Aboard thread and say hello!

I am very grateful that it has not been necessary to increase the restrictions related to COVID-19 in NZ. They will continue for a number of days then be reviewed again, but the amount of testing gives hope that things may get back to normal after that.
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
P&T that No. 1 nephew and his fiancée have tested negative for Covid after being in a bar in Edinburgh where there was a customer who tested positive. The bar has since closed for a few days for deep cleaning, and as far as I know there's no real need for panic.

Two super people with whom I'd lost touch after I flounced from church have just contacted me! After two and a half years!

(They were very new then and therefore unaware of what was going on in general let alone in particular, and knew none of my details like phone or even where I lived. They said they'd been keeping an eye out for me in the streets (awww!) and never forgotten me in their prayers! Bigger AWWW!)

  • HuiaHuia Shipmate
    Galilit - Brilliant!

I've been having one of those days where I needed to hear something positive about people. Thanks
  • I've got a new job - it's working with a company who places English teachers into primary schools. The pay isn't great BUT it's a salaried job, so I can declare travel costs for tax purposes. It's also 30 km from home instead of my usual 80 km drive. It's a one day a week all-day gig (instead of 3-5 hours) and it's in what appears to be a fairly vibrant church school. I'm looking forward to it!
  • hurray!

    Well done, @Dormouse!

  • Thanks be to God, we've completed on the sale of my father's house today. It's been a long haul, and it all suddenly happened over the last few days. It's a big relief.
