I am very thankful for good friends who help me get things in perspective when I am feeling overwhelmed by Life, The Universe and Everything.

Even moreso when they point out why something may have had a negative impact on me because of previous experience. Sometimes I can be oblivious to the obvious.

P&T that a work meeting I was very apprehensive about wasn't as bad as I'd feared.

And that it's over - it was postponed twice.

I'm thankful for all your prayers!
I finally had a negative Covid test this morning!

Well done JJ - now look after yourself - you'll be no use to your mum and dad if you're still not feeling the best.

    Take care.
  • Hurray!

Went to the doctor yesterday, and discussed the results of my latest bloodwork (this is not cancer related, this is the usual medical bloodwork) and everything has improved since my last visit.
  • Wonderful, Nicole!

And glad for the negative text, jj!

P & T for the Ship and friendships made thereon.

Fourteen years ago today, I got a pm from an overseas Shipmate, which started off a full and frank pm exchange about faith. I was very honest, because I knew, given the distance between us and the fact that, at that point, neither of us knew each other's RL identities, we would never know each other in RL.

This month we met up for the seventh time. :)

This is just lovely and one of many reasons why I think the Ship is great and why I too am so very glad I found it!
  • I don't know where to put this one...
Congratulations to the GB P3 Mixed Coxed Four who won gold at the European Championships in Munich. Their Cox, Erin Kennedy was diagnosed with breast cancer in the middle of training and is 2 months into her course of chemotherapy. A remarkable story.

Here seems as good a place as any. Well done, ladies, and prayers and best wishes for Ms. Kennedy's successful treatment and recovery.
  • I just got back from a week long vacation away. Thanks that all was well here in my absence, and thanks for a marvelous time on my trip.
  • Rain! Yay!

Zoom. My daughter was hosting the Zoom of yesterday's church service from her home in England, so we could see her on the screen while we were in church. We nipped to the front before the service started to wave at the camera, so she could see us.

As we went back to our pew, people were grinning at us with what I felt was affectionate amusement at the two daft parents who had been waving at the camera. The whole church felt like family.

Good start too the day. I went to bed thinking I'd had another gremlin attack, as the fridge had a great puddle of water in it and the ice box wasn't icy, and planning that today I'd have to order a next day delivery new fridge (my Protestant past was protesting). I switched it to full with small hopes. So I plodded down in my nightie for more mopping up with the patented yellow cloth which is ultra absorbent, and found no problem. No water. The door wouldn't shut properly as the ice box had re-iced itself and stopped shutting, so I spent some time banging the new ice off - more is needed, but a tougher scraper required. Needs watching, though.
All is well, and no new expenditure needed.
  • Praise and thanksgiving that a wrongly ordered woodburner IS going to be replaced…..

This household had a sleepless night!
  • Me again!

Praise and thanksgiving that not one but Four medical apts came to through this week!

The bulging medical file is being sorted with crisp and orderly pieces of official documents- as I request copies of this and that.

    Hurray!
  • Unlike Penny, I did have to order a new fridge - the old one had been going since 1990 so I really didn't feel that the level of consumption was excessive (unlike its consumption of electricity, which had started to feel a little greedy....) That is not the reason for the P&T though. The old fridge was wedged in by some pipes - I have a feeling they slid it into place and then built the kitchen around it 10 years ago. I couldn't get it out on my own, but the people who came to take it away got it out, after considerable effort. That was a huge relief. Then this morning, the same people turned up, delivered and unpacked the new fridge, and put it in its place, and even levelled it up. It fitted! And they were so kind and gracious about it all - being a not-at-all practical male is not easy at times. By 12.30 the whole nightmare of Death of Fridge just before a very emotional weekend (it happened last Wed/Thurs). P&T indeed!!!!!

Gimme gimme gimme those lovely life-normalising injections!!

Very thankful that despite the Tories' ongoing attempts to destroy the NHS, it is still functioning sufficiently well for me to have been sent both a text message and an email today offering me my next Covid19 booster jab. (And no, Boris, I don't think the fact that I've had Covid19 jabs in Jan 2021, April 2021 and Oct 2021 is to your credit in the slightest tiniest bit, because I think all the credit is due to the NHS and to public-service systems working well.)

I have just found the glasses I use for needlework and am very relieved as I have just paid for new everyday glasses. The new glasses are amazing, apart from the fact they make it obvious that I need to clean my house - sigh.

I am so glad I don't have to check with the various bus companies I have travelled with lately or the supermarkets I've visited.

    Life is definitely looking up.
  • I had my first colonoscopy today, and am glad to report that the results are good. No polyps, no bleeding, no sign of cancer, no need for another for five years.

Excellent news. The tests are not exactly pleasant experiences, but worth all the discomfort for such a great result.

With thanks for the life and witness of Eileen, who died this last weekend. A faithful servant of the church, a gentle and humble soul, a musician of more skill than you would ever get her to admit. Following a stroke she had been in residential care for a couple of years, and skipped away quietly following a short illness. May she rest in peace and rise in glory. And may the angels take the time to convince her that no, really, the Lord is very much looking forward to her taking her turn at the celestial organ. There's such a thing as too much Bach.

    RIP Eileen.
  • I often visit the prayer thread to ask for your support for dear Little Beaky and it means so much to know that people will hold him with all his health challenges in their prayers.
But today I'm rejoicing. His mum has just shared this on Instagram (It's public)

    Reading, praying, and giving thanks.
  • Good news! @EthneAlba has been moved to a specialist rehab facility at a nearby hospital. It is far nicer than a hospital ward, with a garden - for better weather! - and a more relaxed atmosphere. Plus, of course, all the therapists.

Thank you for all your prayers.
  • Wonderful news! Thank you for the update, @Thomasina.
