Possible East Midlands Shipmeet

There seems enough interest in a possible shipmeet in the East Midlands so I've started a new thread to discuss the possibility of those of us that live in the area meeting up.
First of all any suggestions for a place to meet. I live in Newark and that is fairly easy to get to from Nottingham, Derby, Lincoln, Grantham and various other places in the area. However I'm happy to go meet elsewhere.
Let's get some ideas as to where and when, or if we want one at all.

    Somewhere around Nottingham might be fairly central for everyone...

    Can I throw the Salutation on Maid Marion Way into the ring?

    Ooh I haven't been the Salutation since about 1985. Nottingham is easy for me to get to.

    I know where it is but have not been inside. According to TripAdvisor, rock music is played all day, which could make conversation tricky?

    It's not particularly loud in the main bar, and there are a couple of other rooms where you can't really hear it at all.

    There are several other watering holes around there too if you want to move later on.

    Nottingham is very easy for me. Currently being deafened by Goose Fair every night.

    It looks like we want to meet in Nottingham. What suits other people? I'm not around much the next couple of weeks, but after that it's OK. Late afternoon early evening would be best for me, as getting back home on public transport would be a bit dicey.
    I haven't lived in Nottingham since 1986 and only moved back to the East Midlands two years, so not up to speed on good places to meet.

    Edited as my grammar was a bit ropey.

    I live on a good bus route, every ten minutes into Nottingham, but it reverts to 40 minute intervals in the evening.

    If it's not a train strike day there's a possibility I could join in this. Nottingham is perfectly doable, though I too wouldn't want to be too late back.

    It seems we've decided on Nottingham and an afternoon/early evening meet up. Any preferences as to when and where? If we are doing a Saturday I can't do the 21st October, but the 28th is probably OK as is most of November. As to where, a quiet pub or cafe would be good.

    Sorry this dropped off the side of the ship in the last couple of months of 2023. It's a new year so do we fancy organising a meet up in the next month or so?
    At the moment the 3rd, 17th or 24th February would work for me.

    Sounds like a plan to me.

    I don't really know Nottingham at all so very happy to go with what others suggest and the Salutation was mentioned upthread. It's certainly easy to get to from the station, judging by Google maps.

    I lived there for ten years, but left in 1986, so not very good for knowing best places to go any more.

    Yes, thanks, a bit later on might be better. I have concerts on various Saturdays, and other weekends it is the only time my family are available to come and help me and I don’t get much notice, so am reluctant to pin down dates. Sorry, that is not very useful, I know.

    I'd be happy to postpone until later in the year if it's better/ more possible for other people to be able to come as well.

    I'm reasonably flexible for future Saturdays. Other than the occasional wedding to play for, I do my best to keep Saturdays free for what I want to do!

    I think let's try and make this a spring/summer thing. Hopefully some more people will want to join us. I know there are quite a few of us who could get to Nottingham quite easliy.
