Favourite YouTube channels

What are people’s favorite YouTube channels that they check and watch on a regular basis? I have a batch I’ll post on the thread…

    ‘Silver and solo’

A 59-year old living in Canada, planning for retirement and talking good sense about being single and happy.

For some reason I find the channel very resonant and reassuring…

Always Vlogbrothers for me. I got into it about 12 years ago when my kids were in the target demographic for the kind of nerdy silliness the brothers were making videos about, and have kept watching them and listening to their podcast through the growth of their educational-video empire (using Crash Course videos in my History classroom, among other things). I admire the time and energy they have put into their fundraising campaigns for charity, and I appreciate how honestly and openly they have talked about things like John's mental health and Hank's cancer diagnosis and treatment. And they still produce a lot of silly, nerdy fun throughout all the seriousness of life that's happened along the way.
  • Tuba Skinny - the world's greatest trad jazz band. They've been going for about 13 years now:

I enjoy PostmodernJukebox when I am in the mood @Bishops Finger - you may find it’s up your alley.

I have what he’d way too much of Pitchmeeting, on its own channel and when it was on Screen Rant @ChastMastr I think you’d enjoy the skits the do on superhero movies.

Charlie Hopkinson’s deep fake comedy reaction videos are hilarious I strongly recommend the lord of the rings and Star Wars compilations.
  • Always on the hunt for recommendations of a new podcast or youtube to enjoy! I do watch the couple of podcasts I regularly consumer, both on youtube, but the algorithm has fed me another couple of channels which I really enjoy. The first is One pack wanderers, a young couple travelling the world and they have spent about a year in Australia. I've enjoyed them because living on the eastern side, there is much of the country that I have not seen, so quite educational.

I've recently come across Nic & Andrea Hills who are internet resellers. I'm interested in their thoughts as I've thought this is something the son could get into (with our assistance) to earn some cash. Sounds like it would be boring, but their presentation is very engaging and they have quite the community of like minded people.

I also watch Ryan Was, my husband calls him the Happy Arvo guy, an American reacting to videos about Australia and the differences between the US and Australia. I enjoy his responses to various things and have most enjoyed his watching of old TV ads and musical performers he did not know were Australian, quite amusing.

I've recently got a bit hooked on a similar American reacting to videos about British Culture...in fact there's two channels like this that I've seen, the most prolific (and most annoying yet strangely addictive) one is a guy called Tyler Rumple.

Other very niche channels I follow include 'Cracking the Cryptic' where you can watch a couple of nerdy Brits solving sudoku and similar puzzles, and can also have a go at the puzzles yourself which is the main appeal as it's more interactive than just watching....you try a bit, get stuck, watch a bit more of the video, repeat as necessary!

I also like to watch videos on music theory, language, Tiny House.....etc

I just love how there's something for everyone on YouTube and currently spend more time watching that than on regular TV!

Tyler and Ryan are twins, in real life.
