I was able to get to church for the first time in 8 weeks this morning 🙂🙂👍🙂. It was so good to be there in person rather than watching it on live stream, even though I ended up watching the sermon again on the web
I broke my foot back in April. I was on crutches for two months, and using a cane since then. Today I got the all clear from my doctor that my foot is healed, I don't need to come back or have more X-rays, and I can stop using the cane.
My dad had a heart attack and in the next day or so depending on what the doctor decides he is having triple bypass surgery. Prayers are appreciated.
UPDATE:
He posts:
Thank you to everybody who prayed for my father, God heard each of you and my dad was able to get stints put in instead of open heart surgery. I'm so thankful to God, the surgical team and all of you for praying for him.
Giving thanks because today my son, known on these boards as the Giraffe, became engaged to be married! To such a lovely girl, whom we are so glad to think will be part of the family.

Yay!!
12:08 pm. The power just came back at last!! The fridge had risen to 52/54 degrees (F — Celsius it is 11.11 - 12.22 degrees) inside. I’m not sure what food is still safe other than obviously visible things like fresh vegetables or fruit. (Maybe cheese.) A bunch of stuff in the freezer was mushy. I genuinely think I’d be safest pitching a lot of this.
Congratulations to the Giraffe - goodness he's now a grownup. @ChastMastr, I too would junk the freezer food but things like cheese should be OK. Glad you are safe, that is the important thing.
Either pitch the frozen stuff, or cook it into something. So, for example, frozen meat can be cooked into a stee or casserole and that can be frozen to be reheated for later eating.
@Cathscats, thank you for sharing your lovely news! Congratulations to the Giraffe!!
@ChastMastr, do you have homeowners or renters insurance? If so, they should probably be able to help you with restocking your fridge. After hurricane Ian two years ago (today!) my insurance company sent me $500 right away without me having to ask for help!
Thanks everyone. Yes, the Giraffe has got through his turbulent adolescence and has grown up. Very well. Young to ,army, maybe, (22), but she is almost perfect for him.
Thanks for the visit yesterday of H, a dear spiritual advisor, who was able to put my (and Mrs RR's) present trials and tribulations in perspective. Knowing my bibliomania, she suggessted a helpful book!

Hopefully Mrs RR home today. Our elder daughter is also coming over today. Younger (somewhat estranged daughter made contact. Wow! PTL!
Must clean up a bit. Where does RR keep the battery for the vacuum cleaner? 'In the cupboard under the stairs,' she says.
Great, we live in a bungalow.
Glad MrsRR is coming home. I hope you find the battery, but take it easy yourself too. Good idea to have your daughter come and help look after you both.
I am on placement as a school learning support officer (someone who assists teachers in the classroom; I am working with children with intellectual disabilities, and other conditions).
I have always respected teachers. But being in the classroom, and with the kids I have, my respect has increased more. I am learning so much. Thanks be to God for teachers who care deeply about their students and give so much of themselves, even financially where the state does not. And thanks be to God for their willingness, among hectic schedules, to share tips and techniques with me as I learn.
Sorry for another post so soon. The high school I go to on placement Friday (I also go to a primary school Wednesday) offered me casual work while still doing my course. That was a nice boost to my self-esteem.

Wow .... prayers of thanks ascending!!! So pleased!
Mrs RR and I played 'hooky' today. Instead of Holy Communion we went to one of our favourite gardens. This was our first proper outing since mrs RR's recent sojurn in hospital. We walked for over an hour, the sun smiled on us and the autumnal colours of the trees were glorious.
No guilt (so far). PTL.

@ChastMastr - I know it's a frightful waste, but you're probably best ditching anything that's fully defrosted.
What a bummer - but at least you're safe.
