Confusion worst confounded

We are cheating a bit for dinner and having a couple of curries from the chiller section of the supermarket. One of them is labelled "Traditional Indian Massaman Kangaroo". Perhaps the roos used swim over there.....

  • That’s peculiar indeed! Is there an ingredient list?
  • You've obviously not tried my Peking duck-billed Platypus. Or steak and echidna pie.

Chastmaster - Yes, there is an ingredient list, and kangaroo is an ingredient.

We can buy roo steaks etc quite easily and legally, here. It bbqs well but has to be cooked no more than medium rare as it gets tough.

Supermarkets here occasionally offer ostrich, but kangaroo has been 'delisted' by most along with buffalo and crocodile.
  • There was once a restaurant in Greater Cincinnati, OH that specialized in serving all kinds of "game," including alligator, ostrich, and on occasion, bear steaks. My palette never ventured that far, but it was available.

  • And then of course, for epicures with a sweet tooth and a taste for small rodents, there's Lemming merangue pie.

Which brings us to the classic:

    Diner: D'ye have any afters?
Waiter : Ye can hae rice pudding or meringue.
Diner: You're no wrang, I'll hae the rice pudding.
