Our house sits about a block below the neighborhood water reservoir. Last night, when I stepped out front, I could hear running water coming down one of the side streets. I went to investigate. Water was running down the hill from the said reservoir, The next-door neighbor as outside so I asked him what was happening. Turns out the reservoir had burst. While it did not impact our house, the neighbor's basement was being flooded, and his side yard was being turned into a little lake. The authorities were called. Several fire trucks responded. They were able to stop the breech and one of the fire trucks helped to pump out the flooded basement.

Deal of it is, there were flash flood alerts throughout the area because of developing thunderstorms, but no one thought an aging municipal reservoir would give way last night.
