I used to come here sometimes a long time ago. I am a survivor of extensive childhood physical, emotional & sexual abuse. I've spent many years not really involving myself with anyone.
Recently i did some very intensive therapy. I'm genuinely ok. It went well.
I don't have anything to do with church anymore. But there are a few things about church that i miss.
When I was thinking about that, i remembered this place. You were always an unusual, eclectic group of people who managed to be caring and odd in equal measure
If nobody objects, i'd quite like to hang out a little, sit in the corner and watch the world go by.

i feel i should confess that while i have read/watched/am aware of things like star trek/wars, LOTR/hobbits and wizard schools. I have not retained any information or geeky knowledge pertaining to them.
if this is an online version of a ballon debate i fear i might be the first to be ditched for serving no purpose
Consider yourself lucky. I have an encyclopedic knowledge of the history of Middle Earth from its formation to the War of the Ring but can I remember what I was meant to be doing in town today? No. Not a Scooby.
has all that knowledge ever been useful? has it saved a life? helped you to be sparkling and witty at a dinner table? helped you fill in a tax return?
It is, of course, well known that there are no women on the internet but I don't know if that extends to tribbles, who are infamously born pregnant and who are therefore, on the balance of probabilities, likely female.
In my case, No. @KarlLB will answer for himself, no doubt.
But I suspect to have that sort of knowledge in that sort of detail about something you care about is deeply satisfying and makes you happy. So it is definitely of great value.
well that’s something. of course when you meet a like minded person you can go at it hammer and tongues 🙂
oh there are women on the internet you just have to know where to look … but they might be the kind of women my mummy warned me about 🙂

Oh no, it's long been understood that any women on the internet are men and any men are 12 year old boys.
i did happen to wander into that thread. i just felt it wasn't for me.
it is very hard to tell the difference between boys and girls here but i had been working on the assumption they were all human
not that it matters or changes anything …

It's not like I spent time learning this stuff. It's just that it sticks in my mind, unlike stuff it would be useful to retain.
