I used to come here sometimes a long time ago. I am a survivor of extensive childhood physical, emotional & sexual abuse. I've spent many years not really involving myself with anyone.

Recently i did some very intensive therapy. I'm genuinely ok. It went well.

I don't have anything to do with church anymore. But there are a few things about church that i miss.

When I was thinking about that, i remembered this place. You were always an unusual, eclectic group of people who managed to be caring and odd in equal measure

If nobody objects, i'd quite like to hang out a little, sit in the corner and watch the world go by.

You are most welcome to do that. The forums have been through some changes, you may want to have a look at the updated forum guidance and perhaps explore Epiphanies if you wish to discuss more sensitive issues. In Epiphanies we make space for the voices of those most effected by the issues under discussion.

you have some very strange conversations here

i remembered this afternoon that Holy Joes & Ship of Fools co-hosted an evening together once and i could not recall where it happened … my life has become a blur

    (My italics).

I submit that this is (a) True™, and (b) worthy of inclusion in the Quotes file!

i really need to get some sleep but i will be returning to your wonderful book of quotes

On the internet, nobody knows you're a tribble.

i had to look that up

i feel i should confess that while i have read/watched/am aware of things like star trek/wars, LOTR/hobbits and wizard schools. I have not retained any information or geeky knowledge pertaining to them.

if this is an online version of a ballon debate i fear i might be the first to be ditched for serving no purpose

Consider yourself lucky. I have an encyclopedic knowledge of the history of Middle Earth from its formation to the War of the Ring but can I remember what I was meant to be doing in town today? No. Not a Scooby.

has all that knowledge ever been useful? has it saved a life? helped you to be sparkling and witty at a dinner table? helped you fill in a tax return?
  • Well, it keeps me from talking too much and bothering other people, so there's that. 😉

It is, of course, well known that there are no women on the internet but I don't know if that extends to tribbles, who are infamously born pregnant and who are therefore, on the balance of probabilities, likely female.

In my case, No. @KarlLB will answer for himself, no doubt.

But I suspect to have that sort of knowledge in that sort of detail about something you care about is deeply satisfying and makes you happy. So it is definitely of great value.

oh there are women on the internet you just have to know where to look … but they might be the kind of women my mummy warned me about 🙂
  • We don't exist. Put your mind (and your mum's) at rest. We're not here.

    Tribbles, on the other hand...

Oh no, it's long been understood that any women on the internet are men and any men are 12 year old boys.

it is very hard to tell the difference between boys and girls here but i had been working on the assumption they were all human

not that it matters or changes anything …
an opinion can be disputed whoever utters it

It's not like I spent time learning this stuff. It's just that it sticks in my mind, unlike stuff it would be useful to retain.
