After a long absence from participating as a worship leader--I had abstained in order to try to get more to volunteer--I was a reader today. Quite a few commended me for reading.
Will ease into it a little me.
Josephine, i.e. Mrs. Mouse, has got to march in a "No ICE" rally one town over. It has started to (gently) rain. I shall have to have a pot of tea ready when she gets home, or after her hot shower.
Oh, that's awesome. I was trying to see if my husband would absolutely lose it if I went to one of the local protests, and sadly decided yes. He's got too much trauma left from Vietnam, and would absolutely expect me to be shot. So I have to find other things to do.
Well she got back in once piece. The march went fine. She got some car time with the neighbor across the street, whom we've only just been getting to know. So in all it was a good day.
I remember Josephine as a straight shooter (metaphorically) and if anyone could get the point across it would be her. I'm looking into the next No Kings! day.
Please remember me to your lady. I was always interested in her POV.

I thank you on her behalf. I will pass along your greetings. (She's asleep right now.)
I want to pop in and say how much I appreciate all of you who post on our USA thread. Do not want to get political so I will leave it at that. Just wanted to let you know that your posts matter to me.
I live in a senior Mobile Home Community in a small city. Today, a fox was sighted in our area. We have a number of trees and park-like settings. We have seen deer, a pair of ducks, raccoons, possums, skunks, and many squirrels living here, along with many birds. I love that we share life with wildlife even in the city.
When we lived in Fredericton, we were in a "mobile" estate and we had all sorts of birds that came to our feeder. We also had a grey squirrel who came every morning at about 11 o'clock and would completely clean it out! We allowed him one meal a day; we weren't prepared to fill it up again just for him to come back, and we wanted to give the birds a chance!
One winter we had a brief but delightful visit from a little red squirrel, who we think had made his home underneath our deck (which was, of course, buried a couple of feet under the snow), and we made a point of putting out some food for him, which he would take up to the top of the snow-heap and eat while enjoying the view.
Did you know there are several species of fox? The two prominent ones are Red Tail and Black Tail. In our town of 35,000, the red tail lives in our neck of the woods. We have a pair that comes by our place every so often. On the north end of town, the black tails live. All that separates the two species is the main highway into town. Don't know if they can cross breed or not.
I suspect those are both subspecies or even just color phases of Vulpes vulpes, the red fox. The only other species in the US are the arctic fox, the kit fox, and the swift fox

Actually, the name for the black tailed fox is the grey fox. Red foxes normally have a white‑tipped tail, but they can also have black‑tipped tails due to natural color variation.
Gray foxes often have a black stripe and black tail tip, which can lead people to call them “black‑tailed”
We have little brown bunnies that live in they greenway (unpaved alley behind about 5 houses), but over by the train station, not 6 blocks away, they are all black.
My wife got to see the Buddhist monks on the Walk for Peace yesterday. She was very glad; she was hoping to have an opportunity to see them, and found that opportunity on the way home from an out-of-town funeral.
After 10 days of dark, grey clouds, the sun is finally peeking out today. We have not had rain or snow for fifteen days now. What started out as a rainy, snowy winter petered out. We are on track to having the driest winter since 1934, now.
I have to brag on my daughter! She and some of her running friends are in California right now after having run the 10K and half marathon races at Disneyland yesterday and today. She ran her personal best half marathon today at under three hours!! When she runs the next half marathon at Disney World (at Wine and Dine), she is now qualified for the Coast to Coast medal for doing the races there and here.
January of 2025, she did the Dopey Run. I probably already mentioned this, but I'm so stinkin' proud of her!! Dopey Run: 5K the first day, 10K the next day, half marathon the third day and full marathon the fourth day. They add up to 48.6 miles!
One of my big regrets is quitting running when I was a teen. One of my acquaintances told me that running was unladylike...and I believed her. Mostly because so many people let me know how unladylike and tomboyish I was, I quit running. If I could change one thing, it would be to never stop running.

Unless you have some severe physical issues, there is nothing that says you can't pick it up again. Just saying.
Congratulations for your daughter's achievement, though.
Congrats to your daughter, @jedijudy! My daughter is a distance runner too, so I know the fun and pride of watching their achievements, especially when personal records and qualifications for other races are involved!
Enjoy the snow! It's been a remarkable year for snowfall in a lot of the Lower 48. I, of course, am completely and horribly jealous of your Nor'easter visitor. This displaced PA boy just cannot abide the Deep Southern slop that passes for winter. ❄️
Northern CA here. A lot of snow all around us on the mountains, some hail here, but nothing else. I also miss the snow, but not the shoveling or putting on and taking off the chains, as per the Mid-Atlantic Coast.
Southern California is beautiful. Partner and I walked to a diner for breakfast, and now I'm sitting outside on the deck under a shade umbrella scrolling the internet and getting ready to go back to knitting a sweater that I need to finish soon if I want to wear it before November.
Rain here in the Pacific Northwest. A small dusting of snow overnight is probable tonight. We will be getting into the 50s (10s C) next week. Time to break out the patio furniture.
Three months after high winds knocked down a neighbor's spruce tree into our backyard collapsing our shed, it is finally repaired. We had hoped to have had it repaired a month ago, but first there was a delay in framing the trusses. When they finally put them up, we found the shed was not square. Over the years it must have shifted a bit--either the ground or the framing or both. Friday, the General Contractor was to get the metal roofing, but he found the length of the panels was one foot short, so they had to recut new metal panels. Yesterday, everything came together.
This shed has collapsed three times on us: once after a heavy snowfall, and twice after trees have fallen on it. Fingers crossed, it should be the last time before we move on--which is not going to happen for at least five years.

Not missing it one tiny bit!
I need to check with son in D.C. and see how much they got.
