  • The website for my new study module appears to have gone live earlier than I expected and has made me change my plans for the day. The course doesn’t start til September but I am very excited by the prospect; I have already done my background reading over the summer in preparation. It is the dissertation year of a Masters in early modern history, and my dissertation proposal is on the professionalisation of mad-doctoring in the 18th century (mad-doctoring being the archaic term used then).
    My list:
    Mental health walk
Work emails and admin - nothing happening
Write short report on my annual appraisal and send to my manager
Read through new course overview and assessment
    Start new reflective study journal
Tidy hall and sweep kitchen floor
  • Supermarket van arrived as I posted my earlier list. All put away.
A mixture of tomatoes have been picked.
I was intending to have another go at wrestling the duvet & pillows for the spare bed into its plastic storage bag & shoehorn it into the drawer under the sofa bed, but I seem to have done something to my back, so that has been postponed yet again.

The to do list now only has three things on it:
Make & eat lunch, including some of the tomatoes (b'fast was eaten after the shopping was put away)
    Have a nap
Get washing in, fold it and put it away.

What happens after that will depend on how my back feels after the nap, but as Mr RoS is going out I will be preparing dinner early. Would have been salad again, but now probably pasta, as today is chillier than the last few.

🤣 I'm imagining I should never try to post from a phone!
  • Pay bills, put away new books donated to our clubhouse library, do some artwork, and if it's warm enough, go for a swim.

Hmmph. And there Ought To Be Laws banning skin coloured form fitting jogging outfits. "It wasn't my fault I missed the stop sign, yer honour!"

You have done heaps today @Climacus!!! I'm feeling a bit slack in comparison!
Oh, you have a lot on your plate! I have days of busyness and days of laziness like today.

    Walk dog.
Complete mandatory training for volunteer work (helping adults with literacy and numeracy)
Ring GP to get a long appointment for a Mental Health Care Plan
  • My day off.

    Mental health walk
Write short draft dissertation summary for studies
Wait in for carpet fitter to measure up
Plan surviving the chaos of next 2-3 weeks with Mr Heavenly
Read book on 18th century social context

(Chaos: Master Heavenly the Younger is coming home for 2 weeks this weekend to do jury service and he is either staying in a room with no furniture or in a room with 2 lots of furniture. We are going to a festival half way through his stay, we will need to return to collect him and we haven’t organised a cat sitter yet as we have no idea when he will be off jury duty. Mr Heavenly is going to the US on business the second week and Master Heavenly the Younger needs returning to York to go on a holiday as soon as he is back. Meanwhile, Master Heavenly the Elder will need to move between different student accommodations at an undetermined date in early September, or possibly even move home for a week with his stuff. We have no idea where he or his stuff might be put up.)
  • That sounds like a game of Tetris @Heavenlyannie I hope all the complexity can be managed successfully.

I haven't done a proper to do list for a few days. Yesterday we did achieve our goal of a garden centre outing. So many beautiful roses and water features on display, giving us much to ponder for our own garden.

Cheery husband is home on a week off before starting a new job. He has been doing jobs in the garage, which have dragged me in re answering questions or making decisions about keeping or not keeping things. I have just added to my list of things which need to be washed. The week feels as though things are out of kilter and I'll be glad to resume the regular routine next week.

Washing is done, dishwasher is done and lunches have been eaten. Daughter has come home masked and feeling drained, there is a "cold" going around at work. If she has a +ve covid test, that will put any plans for the weekend and next week on hold.

    Singing and more singing.
  • Sunday is the day I water all of my house plants.
  • PuzzlerPuzzler Shipmate
Travelled home by train( s) and bus.
    Catching up with myself.
Must go and restock the fridge.
No specific plans for the next few days.
  • Cats walked followed by a walk for myself as well.
    Washing on and hung out
    Podcasts listened to
    lunch fairly soon
Cheery son chased to make sure he's done his jobs
After lunch, I have some new books to read, just have to decide which one to go for first.

Normal routine is resuming now that Cheery husband has gone to his new job.
  • Hang washing out (done)
    Optician
Call in convenience store for a few bits of fruit and salad
Sort a month's worth of medications into daily doses.
That will probably fill the morning.
    Nap after lunch.
I am still slowly moving things back into the spare room so if I have the energy will expend a little on that during the rest of the day.
  • PuzzlerPuzzler Shipmate
    Washing done.
    Updating finances done.
    Printed off new insurance docs.
Put lots of paper in the recycling bin.
    Lunch
I need to walk to the pharmacy for a prescription, but am having a lot of pain in my legs. Hoping a walk will be good, no steps involved.
Nothing specific happening before Friday, but I must not waste this time. I have sorting to do.
  • Spent an hour in the opticians, much of which was trying to figure out the cheapest way to provide me, temporarily, with glasses that will suit both the new lens in my R eye and my double vision, during the unknown time the eye hospital will take to deal with the cataract in my L eye.
All very tiring, so not much done for the rest of the day.

I did get round to putting a weeks worth of tablets in their little cells, and will tackle the rest later.
Nothing further done in the spare room. Postponed yet again.

Tomorrow starts with a supermarket delivery.
There should be another delivery van arriving at some time, bringing a shipment of condiments from a herb farm in Cornwall. I might share them with our younger DiL, as she and I have a particular fondness for such things.
  • MrsBeakyMrsBeaky Shipmate
Today and every day for the next four weeks (when we depart this Sceptred Isle to visit eldest Beaky daughter in New Zealand) I will be working my way through a long list of tasks such as completing online forms, gathering medication etc and covering admin stuff for whilst we are away.
    Wish me luck Shipmates!
  • I'm off to The Hundred (cricket) later - my wife will not be accompanying me!

Weather is not as nice as promised but at least it's dry.
  • Full day out with my twice-monthly helper. Visit the library, then head to the plant store to replace two plants on my front porch that need trimming back and resting. Next, return plastic shopping bags to the collection center, the bank, and the grocery store. After lunch, if I have the energy, I will take a swim, but most likely I will need a nap.

Totally unplanned, I had an afternoon out at the Holocaust Centre today.
Tomorrow I must knuckle down to some work- housework, sorting, shredding….. still clearing my study and Mr Puzzler’s.

I was given a garden bench that needed a bit of TLC - I've painted it, but yesterday one of the seat slats cracked when I sat on it, so today I will be lashing the slat together with string and lots of glue!
But first, it's Star Trek morning with my friend (season 2 of Deep Space 9 at the moment).
And later, I'm starting a new ripple pattern knitting project. I enjoyed doing the last one so much (a throw for the back of my chair) that I'm making something twice as big!
  • PuzzlerPuzzler Shipmate
Early visit from daughter for catch up.
Planning buses etc for a trip tomorrow.
Putting dates for next year on a new calendar.
Prep what to say at French group later at 2pm.
Tidying up. Putting away. Ironing. Puzzles.
I must try to achieve something specific too.
  • With the temperature expected to be 96°F today, I plan to spend most of my time watering the plants and enjoying the pool. The dog was walked at 6 AM, and the second walk will be at 6 PM; no noonday walk for her. I will also keep watch on the wildfire not too far away, where I used to live and still have many friends. Prayers for the firefighters working to contain the fire in this heat.
  • Change of plans, staying inside as the smoke from the fire is heavy. Molly was very nervous on her walk this morning and wanted to hurry home.

    Oooooo! I need the recipe!
  • Glad we had nothing planned for today as we have all overslept. I always think that we must have really needed it, when that happens. Today being Saturday, no harm done.

Did manage to get one cat walked, did some garden stuff and have watched some vlogs.

A shower later on and a think about whether to trim hair (or not).

I did a vacuum yesterday, but might do a quick one in the living room and spare bedroom.

Finally rounded up all the teatowels and they have been washed and are drying. It's all excitement (not) at my place!!!

6:27 Saturday here and I've just woken up. Our time difference is really noticeable @Cheery Gardener!

    Not much on today -

    Shower
Meet a friend and her dog for a walk
    Breakfast
    Life admin
    Gardening
    Lunch
    Arty stuff
    Drinks on the patio
    Dinner
    Tidy up
    Watch new drama on TV

  • As I fall asleep at night @Boogie, I wonder what you are getting up to while I am slumbering. I look forward to checking that out each morning.

I had no firm plans for today but have knocked off a couple of outstanding jobs.

Dusting cloths are now in the wash and will be hung up shortly. Tea towels have been folded and put away.

I've washed the hoses from my cpap machine. I have two which I switch around and as it's fairly warm today have decided to wash both.

    Spare bedroom has been vacuumed.

A trip to the garden centre and some seedlings purchased. Saw another lovely plant (the name of which I forget). Fifty eight dollars for a moderately sized one and twenty eight dollars for a smaller one. I'll have a think about those, as I thought that amount quite pricey.

    Evening meal
Concert in the square by Bristol Brass - Mr Boogs is looking forward this!

Reminds me of the hymn -

"The sun, that bids us rest, is waking
Our brethren 'neath the western sky.
And hour by hour fresh lips are making
Thy wondrous doings heard on high."

    Church. Done.
Top up shop before I run out of milk, and food for packed lunch tomorrow. Done.
Listen to music for tomorrow’s Come and Sing.
Remove cobwebs from car and front door.

  • I didn't really have a to do list today, but I managed to
watch all my subscribed videos online
    walk both cats
go for a pre-lunch walk with Cheery Son
Wash and hang up three of loads of washing
Looked at hair-raising water bill, but realised it's not really that bad for 4 people over 90 days.
Need to order another book online for aged aunt
I should have watered my potplants, but I think I'll need to leave that for tomorrow now. As will ringing pension fund to sort out one last thing before submitting paperwork.

@Boogie, I loved your hymn quotation, that's exactly how I see it!

  • I had a bit of a messy day yesterday, so not a lot got done. However a Father's Day gift was sourced for Cheery husband an important time sensitive thing with Father's Day next weekend, here in Oz.

I did manage to get all of the indoor recycling out into the bin ready for the road this afternoon though, which has saved me some time today. So a very unproductive day.

This morning has been another story:

Washing on and bathroom floors mopped
    Washing hung up
    Dishwasher run
Cat's trays refreshed and old litter out to the outside bin. I got Cheery husband to bring in a fresh bag to top up the trays.
Cats walked, one by Cheery son, the other by me.
Old veges and fruit cut up ready for worm farm
Pondering birthday present for sister in law
Shopping list written in consultation with kids, ready for Cheery husband to place order online.
Cheery son and I did our walk around the neighbourhood. Yesterday there were swans on the pond, alas not so today.
Cup of tea and favourite radio program on as well as visiting the ship.
I think a rest after lunch!
