A certain small Ontario brewery delivered two dozen Marzen lager yesterday when I had ordered Porter. I was woken from a nap by a phone call saying they'd made a mistake and the correct delivery was on its way. And would I please accept the Marzen as a gift? Hic hic hurrah to them!

    Unexpected visit from both grandchildren.
  • I've been doing shite in an otherwise empty office. What's good about that is that I can listen to I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue on YouBend, and guffaw as loudly as I like.

Must listen to some recent ones, as well as revisiting Jeremy Hardy singing...

I *think* I have successfully repaired our dishwasher, avoiding having to replace it at 10+ times the cost. Thank goodness for Youtube. I did have to pinky swear to Siemens that the replacement part would be installed by someone competent, which may not have been entirely true.

No, in retrospect it appears to be quite true.

Yesterday's recipe for dinner, despite being described as serving two, produced so much that we only ate half and are having the other half tonight. No cooking for me tonight!
  • Mr RoS has finally agreed to retire our 1980s TV with integral video tape player and get a new (really new, not just new to us) TV for the spare room.

Today, in a massive jump into the 21st century, I ordered one that has Freely.
    It comes on Thursday!

Holidays are all very well, but I do enjoy sleeping in my own bed.
  • Just had someone come to check what I was doing in their lab, and ended up spending 20 minutes talking about their science.

It was just so nice to feel I was involved again, even only so briefly.
  • My younger son has offered to move in with me. This will be a significant help to me, as I no longer drive. It is also becoming physically challenging to do some chores. An added bonus will be now having extra money in the bank each month for more enjoyable things. He has been coming over once a week for several years to help me, so we already know we enjoy each other's company. As he rents a small art studio/apartment, which he will keep, it only makes sense for him to move in with me, rather than the other way around.
