Hi NEQ - could he use a urine bottle? Like the ones you get in hospital, but plastic and with a lid. District nurses can supply them and I think you can get them for about £5 in pharmacies or online. I order these a lot for similar situations.
He does use a bottle, Aravis, but because of his enlarged prostate (benign) finds he has to stand - sitting on the edge of the bed doesn't work. So when he needs, it's all hands to the pump as it were, to get the zimmer in place for him to stand supported. Mum is in charge of the bottle; I'm in charge of support.
If he has a community alarm pendant with Telecare I think you can add a pressure mat as part of the monthly contract (that’s how it works here, but I don’t know if England does the same as Wales).
Thanks for keeping us posted NEQ. May he rest in peace and rise in glory (with a good sharp pair of secateurs ready to use). Prayers for all of you, especially your Mum. 🕯
Sorry to hear he's gone, but glad for you all that you could be there and he had time to make his goodbyes, and gave you all time to come to terms with his going. For someone who wasn't supposed to be bought a Christmas present as he wasn't going to be around for it, he's definitely made sure he hasn't spoiled Christmas for you.

Prayers ascending for you all.
With Mum, they eventually put down pressure mats that sounded the alarm every time she started to get up. I think it was something like this mat.
What a clever invention!
He wanted to die at home, surrounded by family, and that is what is going to happen.
He's comfortable and peaceful, and we are taking it in shifts to sit with him, so he has family with him at all times.
Grieving with you, but glad his ending was peaceful, with the whole family there.
