It's St Lucia's Day today. One of our best dates was a St Lucia party and dance put on by the university Scandinavian Society at Provost Ross's House in Aberdeen in 1971, a year before we were married.
May QuakerCub’s memory be a blessing!
I have a birthday looming, and I’m one of those strange people who, if we’re going to eat at home rather than go out, wants to not only plan the menu but cook it myself. 🤪
So, the meat for Sauerbraten is already marinating.
The animal for this year is the horse, and it's element is fire (as in the elements earth, air, fire, water, and I think the Chinese include wood but don't quote me on that.) Apparently there's a cycle of elements to the years as well as the animals, which I never knew before this year. So I am, from 1962, a water tiger.
I was born in 1961, but early enough in 1961 to have been born before the 1961 Chinese Lunar New Year (February 15 in 1961). That means rhat instead of being born in the year of the Metal Ox, I was born in the year of the Metal Rat. 🫤
