  • St Ebbes was once a densely populated area of Georgian terraces. These were pulled down in the 1960's and are now forgotten - a huge stain on the conscience of Oxford.
  • The National Pipe Organ Register shows the organ originally in the North Chancel Aisle, and a note: "Organ to be removed January 2017 as part of a building project in the church."

What (if anything) replaced the erstwhile Georgian terraces? The MW Report mentions a nearby shopping centre...

I don't know Oxford at all (to my old Headmaster, it was The Other Place!).

  • The area of St. Ebbes is now the Westgate Shopping complex, which pulls in a lot of money. But then the Georgian terraces would be desirable now.
  • I expect they would!

Someone told me that there's a university there. I don't believe them. There's only the One.
  • Anonymous as a mystery worshiper, yes. But I have to say: I was a member of that university and I am permanently grateful. It taught me, among many other desirable things, to love beautiful buildings.
