I notice we are getting away from the actual plight of existing refugees and migrants and into the kind of hypothetical discussion (but what if there were completely open borders and everyone came?) which lends itself to privileging the apprehensions of people safe at their keyboards and touchscreens over people actually facing real life death, detention and drowning.
Can we rember that there are real people suffering traumatic experiences and keep them and their communities in mind as a focus for our posting?
