  • Nearly 6 years on, and this brave little church is still up and running! I see that their weekly service is now on a Tuesday morning...

  • Photo above appears to be a funeral?
  • Yes, it's the wrong photo, but that often seems to happen these days. The actual MW Report itself shows the little church in all its modest glory!
  • It happens to older reports that were ported over from the "old" Ship software, and is due to a bug in the "new" software. The bug has been fixed many times, but breaks again whenever the software is updated.

“ The vicar arrived a little later, and three other people dribbled in”

    Eh? Methodists don’t have vicars.

I got the impression from the report that it was not their own minister leading but the local CofE vicar. I wonder if Isla White could clarify, please?
  • From the Report itself:

They are part of a local ecumenical project that includes Holy Trinity Church, Roehampton. The Methodist minister shares in the service at Holy Trinity once a month, usually on the second Sunday. The vicar of the Anglican church took the service on the day we were there; it was not clear how often he does this

    My italics.
  • ETA:

Their website is well worth a look, as it shows how even such a small church can flourish. They are still part of the ecumenical parish, but now have their own (Methodist) Deacon, and help from other Methodist ministers and churches nearby.

In such dire and difficult times, it's good to be reminded that the Christian church is by no means dead...
