Resource Thread: How to analyse sources & spot misinformation (Under Development)

This thread will contain a list of resources on how to critically analyse sources and spot misinformation. This is not topic specific, but about the skills one can use to analyses information. There will also be a list of reputable fact checker sites.

Requests for sites to be added to the lists should be directed to Styx.

    Fact Checker Sites
    • Snopes- this is particularly good for memes / copy paste status posts etc that circulate on Facebook and similar media
    • BBC Verify - attempts to fact check news stories and political claims, probably best at image analysis
    • Channel 4 Factcheck - similar to BBC Verify

    Is this something we can add to, or…? (I don’t mean websites as mentioned above to be asked about in the Styx, but just discussion.)

    Are discussions of the principles one uses (the CRAAP test, lateral reading, etc.) to analyze sources part of this thread?
