Role of women

We recently had a thread on the changing role of men in society. In the interest of symmetry, at least, perhaps we should have a thread on the changing role of women.

Has the role of women in society changed in recent times, such as the last 150 years? How has it changed? What has led to such changes?

For myself, I say: yes, the role of women in modern society has changed. I do not feel qualified to list all or even many such changes. I think two influences have been (a) improvements in technology making brute physical strength less important in most people's lives, and (b) the development of reliable chemical means of birth control.

What do you think?

What matters in Epiphanies is what women think about their roles.

    I note this post is

    (3) may contravene admin policy on too wide threads

Therefore I'm closing the thread temporarily and will ask admin for advice on it.

READ THE FORUM GUIDELINES - the next person who pisses about with this kind of brinksmanship will get two weeks shore leave. And if it is a repeat offender, they will get a minimum six week ban from Epiphanies.
