Howdy Caissa
@RooK genuine question for you: What do you think you sound like when you post in the Styx? I'm trying to work around my biases here.
Following up from The Styx, because it is indeed a technically personal conversation, but I don't intend to vent any spleen here.
To answer your parroted question, I think I sound like a surly old-timer ex-Admin ex-Hellhost who recognizes that while I don't really fit in here any more I do have useful insights into the systemic functioning of this bulletin board. I also expect that I sound like an arrogant asshole, because habitual snark is an addiction that's hard to break. But despite all that, I do generally speak as honestly and transparently as possible, and typically notice that others recognize and respond well to that.
The reason why I asked you the original question in The Styx is because I noticed that I was interpreting your posts in a consistently negative manner. Which in previous eras I would have explained away as a mutation of trolling. But you've been around long enough for that explanation to seem much less satisfactory overall. So, instead of guessing (unkindly) I thought I'd just ask about your actual experience and process.
Maybe we could get all the way to talking about the effects your posts actually have, if they differ from your intended effect. But, engagement is up to you.

[for outsiders, this is the generic Midwestern-American grunt used to smooth over awkward situations, ranging from accidentally bumping into someone to the commencement of WWIII]
I do feel like that response, in itself, is informative too.
