Whamageddon

Is anyone else doing Whamageddon this year?

https://whamageddon.com/

I'm currently 3 hours past my earliest ever exit (2023, about 7.30am Dec 1st, thanks to a DJ who'd never heard of it) but we are in London today and if that doesn't do for me a week shopfitting nexr week surely will.

  • We play as a family but my youngest is studying music tech and is always the first to fall. He actually heard it 2 weeks ago. I am a recluse and almost always win.

A bit of a tangent, but why isn't this one better known?

    Whammed by Radio Somerset!
  • Just happened, lol!
  • I'm going to see the lights in Malaga tonight and suspect I will be out of the game by around 8pm. Will update.
  • I nearly got whammed yesterday, I was far enough away that I thought it was a cover but couldn't be sure. Apparently you need to recognise it, so I'm still in by theskin of my teeth. Won't survive next week though.
  • 8.16am on 1 December, thanks to BBC Radio. Oh, the shame!
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
I'm still in, despite 15 minutes in the queue at the chippy, with a radio playing. Must have just missed it ...
  • Still in - though I heard a cover on the holiday youtube station Beloved tuned into when we got home.

It was a close shave ...

  • Today, TV trailer for some random programme I won't be watching. Only a few seconds, but I recognised it. :(
  • Incredibly, after a week working in a large city centre shopping mall, I am still in!
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
Well done! I've survived the hairdresser's, but whether I'll make it past the talon salon on Tuesday may be another matter ...
  • A. cover in Cardiff market last Saturday. πŸ˜₯

Covers are fine, it's only the original!
  • Out as of today. Team Xmas meeting and meal out. I actually got got by the radio at reception in work! (I work from home most of the time...). Then heard it again whilst we were eating in a local pub.
  • la vie en rougela vie en rouge Purgatory Host, Circus Host
I'm out. The culprit is the cheesy radio station I put on for Captain Pyjamas when he was in the bath a couple of days ago.

I've managed to survive an evening in a pub in Perth, although in fairness I wasn't really listening that closely.
  • I am out, had a Christmas party this evening.
  • I've heard several covers, including a brilliant brass band in our city centre this morning, but surprisingly I'm still in.
Not sure what's different this year as I'm normally out in week one!

This year I was Whamageddoned by my Year 12 Physics class who broke into a surprisingly tuneful rendition a couple of weeks ago
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
You're all right, Turquoise Tastic - it's only the original that counts. However well your pupils sang it, if it wasn't by Messrs Ridgeley and Michael, you're quite safe.
  • So there's hope for me, too? My son sang it AT me, in the car this morning!

Easy game to play in East Coast Canada. I cannot ever recall having heard it.
  • Still in the game despite several jazz covers on Youtube.

You obviously shop in the wrong right shopping centres!
  • I, on the other hand, go to the wrong barbers. I've been Whammed!
  • CaissaCaissa Shipmate
Shopping is something I tend to avoid and to be honest I rarely notice the background music, if there is any.
  • Aaarghh ! It’s become an ear worm!,
  • Still in despite spending five hours in the car yesterday with Mrs Rogue's choice of radio station. Youngest Rogueling works on a supermarket shop floor so is surely doomed.

Don't know if it's just a coincidental consequence of where I've chosen to do my shopping, but I've noticed a lot of Salvation Army brass bands this year. Much more than normal.

But I'm still in Whamagheddon this year....so far.
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
I've just survived about an hour in the talon salon without getting Whammed. It's not often I'm pleased to hear It's the most wonderful time of the year or Let it snow!, but at least they weren't L*** C*******!

As for I wish it could be Christmas every day - I was joining in ...
  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
Well, it's now Christmas Day (where I am anyway), and I've made it!

Merry Christmas one and all! πŸ™‚πŸŽ„
  • I survived, too!

    Whew!

  • And I , in spite of my kid...
