Not a huge amount of difference, but if there is any nuance, I'd say mosey is a little more active, mooch is a bit more passive. So I might mosey round the shops but mooch about at home.
This week has been learning the value of functioning intercostal muscles, after I strained some last week. Hiccuping feels like being stabbed, coughing like being punched, walking like being squeezed in the ribs and standing & sitting takes about 10 seconds of slow agony.
As a bonus, though, when I got my food shop delivered, they gave me an extra packet of croissants by mistake. I've reported it and the supermarket basically said "[thanks for telling us, we don't care, enjoy]".
I enjoy a good mooch, usually around a shop, just having a look around with no particular aim. I don’t think I’ve ever moseyed.
Had my last day of the summer holidays looking after youngest grandson. I really will miss our days together though he wears me out!
My Pilates session has been cancelled tomorrow, so if it’s dry I plan to prune Daughter Erin’s lavender hedge; a job I usually do around her wedding anniversary which is next week. 20 years!
I use both mosey and mooch. For me, they are practically interchangeable, but mosey has a slight air of curiosity, exploring, whereas mooch seems less purposeful.
I'm inclined towards Sipech's definitions of mooch and mosey: the former done at home, the latter with at least a slight sense of direction and/or purpose.
@Nenya - I did remember about my optician's appointment, but as I was a bit whelmed at work (and one of my colleagues was on holiday, meaning we were a bit understaffed), I cancelled it and will re-book next time I'm passing.
@Firenze - glad to hear you're feeling a bit better, and Mr F got his phone back.
ION, Tessie's must have heard my complaint about squitty little grapes: the ones I bought yesterday would pass for only slightly undernourished plums.
I rarely use mosey, I definitely mooch.
Unlike @sipech, half my grocery order was missing this morning. The guy said it was due to problems with the chilled items but dried pasta and fabric conditioner were missing too. Rather annoying but we can manage for a couple of days, specially as my husband volunteers on an eco-farm and came home with various fresh fruit and veg.
I had a hair appointment early on and then went to meet some friends at the cafe near the leisure centre. I usually do that walk with no problem but my painful hip meant I took fifteen minutes longer than usual to do the walk and I happily accepted a lift home.
I have a fairly lazy day planned for tomorrow, but various things that need sorting as well as a pile of ironing to do.
