What did you eat today?

I post about my meals all the time elsewhere, and it occurred to me others might like to as well.

To start it off:

3:11 AM. Dinner: leftover panda express from the freezer followed by ice cream. (Breakfast was cereal.) Catching up on Lanterns.

Good idea @ChastMastr. I think this could be a good place to continue the peanut butter discussions we've been having on thetrivial round thread.
I nearly always have cereal with added fruit for breakfast. At the moment we have some very nice plums from a local community farm that my husband volunteers at. Lunch is something like toast or soup often with the aforementioned peanut butter or marmite.
Last night's dinner was paratha with salad and a vegan ready meal that had been accidentally cooked on Wednesday as my husband thought it was something else.
Today is Friday so it's pasta and pesto night. Today we will also having wine.

Breakfast - porridge with honey and banana. I have the same every day of the year so I'll post this only once. 🙂

The honey is local, the hives are a few doors from me, so the bees buzz around my dahlias and then make me honey!
  • Last night Mr Heavenly was away at a work do so I treated myself to a Chinese takeaway of small portion of wanton soup and then lemon chicken and egg fried rice (leftovers will be refried for lunch today).
My breakfast today was a cafe latte made at home; I seldom eat breakfast, though I do like porridge so occasionally have that.

Banana sandwich so far. This horrifies my offspring for some reason.

Post-chemo I seem to have a strange relationship with eating. Some days, fine. Others - nothing tastes appealing, I have little or no appetite. Last night I made roast chickie bits with bacon and banana - normally a favourite. Just couldn't. However, the neglected chicken will reappear in soup at lunchtime, and I'll see how I get on with tonight's kedgeree - again, a standby.

Otoh, my capacity for necking wine seems unaffected.
  • That is reassuring, after all wine gladdens the heart.

Half a 150 ml tub of fromage frais for breakfast ( to line stomach pre-ibuprofen) before walk & bus to son’s to feed his cat. Sushi roll ( panko prawn & avocado) @ shops after mega-shop. Then home to collapse. Small slice orange cake post nap & finally reheated lamb shank, baked potatoes and pumpkin plus slightly oxidised red wine. Feeling full and happy.
  • Can’t argue with a banana sandwich! I’m a devotee of the sandwich and bread in general. I learned the Art of the Dagwood from my brother but his sandwich press (to compress three layers into a manageable mouth-friendly sandwich) was bequeathed elsewhere.
Last night’s dinner was an odd “curry” by a friend who admits to being unable to cook curries, but it was a pretty good vegetable stew, everything cooked just enough: nothing under and not a mush. Mrs Sioni made a bread and butter pudding to finish which didn’t need cream or custard as there is enough genuine vanilla custard in there already. Delicious!
  • Breakfast was a 'seed sensation' brown-bread sandwich with German smoked cheese and some slices of salami.

Lunch was Polish dumplings (pierogi ) and pickled red cabbage, followed by a piece of Cheddar cheese, and some little grapes from my friend Mr D's vine.

Tea may be soup (not sure what variety), followed by some of Mr D's apple crumble.

Evening grazing will probably be more cheese, with Ryvita or cream crackers. There are also fig rolls and shortbread biscuits!

Breakfast was a toasted Aberdeen buttery and a glass of orange juice; lunch was oatcakes with pâté, a few cherry tomatoes and a fake Milky Way; and supper will be fish and chips, because Friday.

Grapes and/or cheese may be grazed on later.
  • Today’s tea has been baked haddock with a mixed salad of potato, avocado, red pepper, cucumber and lambs lettuce with a lemon dressing. Followed by a shop bought lemon and blueberry cashew nut dessert (a sort of vegan cheesecake).

Like @Boogie I always have the same thing for breakfast - muesli (I make my own) with a bit of milk and Greek yogurt.

Today after my Zumba class I headed to the cafe and treated myself to a large slab of chocolate tiffin (thereby undoing any benefit from the Zumba) with my coffee. I then bypassed lunch and was out this evening at a nearby pub with a group of women I'm just getting to know here. I had fish and chips because Friday.
  • Another who has the same breakfast every morning: Porridge made with 1 tbsp rolled oats, a heaped tsp of oat bran, a heaped tsp of wheat bran and about 3/4 tsp of wheatgerm, with 2/3ds cup of skimmed milk and 1/3 water. I've been having this 'recipe' for so long that I forget which 'diet' it developed from. Into this I slice a (small as I can find) banana,
followed with 1 slice of wholemeal toast and Bovril and accompanied with a mug of very weak, black instant decaff coffee.

We usually go out for lunch on Fridays, but I hadn't the energy, so Mr RoS went round the corner to the Greek Gyro cafe for a takeaway sausage wrap for each of us. I ate the sausage & chips, with tomatoes from the garden, and saved the wrap until dinner time when I had it filled with a little leftover salmon and salad leaves. Had a Magnum (Classic) for my dessert
  • Breakfast today was at Skyway Jack’s diner, fried fish and eggs, potatoes with onions, and biscuit with apple butter and their homemade strawberry jelly. Taking half the fish and potatoes home for later.

Saturday for me is a special breakfast even though I live alone, a left over from when children were home from school and we were off from work.. Today it was a country omelet with basil, tomatoes, and onion. Fresh sour dough toast, some blueberries, and coffee.
  • Just a latte for breakfast as usual, and Mr Heavenly made lunch which was a venison burger with fried egg and tiny fried potatoes in a fresh baguette, followed by a dessert of stewed apples, Greek yoghurt and granola. Rather heavier than my weekday lunch.
  • All I've had so far today is a brown-bread sandwich with Polish cheese and 'farmer's sausage' - a nice herby flavour, with just a hint of garlic.

'Lunch' is a fish-cake with chips and mushy peas, cooking as I write...

So far: coffee, shortbread and a Kit Kat after choir practice; brunch of smoked salmon, poached eggs and toast with orange juice.

Supper will be a steak with veggies, and a glass of Malbec.

Lunch was a Sainsbury’s meal deal comprising of a chicken tikka wrap, a smoothie and a packet of monster munch. I’m cooking jerk chicken for dinner tonight
  • We have just consumed a lovely Portuguese-style bean stew, made with my wife, with mince, parsnip, butter beans, red pepper, carrot, tomatoes and various herbs and spices.
  • Breakfast: 2 sausages, 2 hash browns, 1 fried egg, 8 mushrooms, orange juice, coffee.

Lunch: 4 oatcakes with Bleu d'Auvergne cheese, 1 apple, 1 clementine, 2 plums

Dinner (to come): crayfish salad, scaloppine milanese, runner beans, creme brulee with raspberries

The crayfish are the American signal type, an invasive species, so a tasty starter to help clear our rivers of a pest, definitely a win-win situation. The raspberries, runner beans and plums are all from the garden.

I realise it looks like a lot of food but I've spent the day chopping up felled ash trees.
  • Very boring Chez Sioni. Breakfast was late, so had peanut butter on toast. Dinner (shortly) will be Shepherds pie, carrots and gravy left from a roast followed by homemade rice pudding.

Can’t fail with Shepherds pie. So often it resolves the “What are we going to eat?” question.

The local organic/ethical food delivery company has started selling it ready cooked and I’m tempted to try some, perhaps for our anniversary dinner in a few weeks.
  • I shall have to see whether the ethical crayfish have penetrated this far into the east....

Just ate a vegetable stew which was the first proper thing I've made from the organic box delivered on Wednesday, with some herby sausages from my local butcher.

    Breakfast of waffles and coffee.

Lunch homemade broccoli soup - not all that interesting- followed by a pear and plums.

Pre-dinner cocktail 'New 1920s' - Canadian Club, sweet and dry vermouths, and orange bitters.

Dinner, steak'n'chips with chilli butter. Panacotta. Portugese red.
  • Mr Heavenly has made a tea of monkfish tails, and a salad with citrus dressing, topped with garlic and herb labneh. It was lovely and not as heavy as lunch. I am now having a Seville orange gin and tonic.
  • Last night: 2:16 AM. Dinner: Trader Joe’s butternut squash, lasagna, followed by dessert and maybe other stuff but right now I’m just having this.

4:31 PM. Breakfast: eggs, leftover fish and potatoes from yesterday, Florida Datil pepper breakfast sauce, apples and honey for Rosh Hashanah, coffee. Today: grading, dishes, laundry, and reading. Maybe starting to put up Halloween decorations, hopefully. Maybe tidying kitchen. Watching Haunted Hotel (animated comedy series).
  • My normal porridge, banana, Bovril toast & weak decaf coffee for breakfast.
A couple of mini pork pies with a salad of mixed tomatoes from the garden for lunch.
Sweet potato and spinach dhal fr dinner, with a spoonful of yoghurt on top.
Should have been eaten with a flatbread of some kind, but I forgot to get them out of the freezer, so I microwaved a pack of brown rice to go with it.

Other than breakfast, we usually have leftovers on Sunday, so tomorrow we will be having more dhal, and as I made rather a large quantity we might be having another serving later in the week. fortunately Mr RoS doesn't remember his meals from one day to the next, so the same meal several times in one week is never a problem,
  • 1:16 AM. Dinner is rice, corn, beans microwaving currently which means I will be eating sooner than I have a lot of nights. Followed by a donut or two probably. Going to finally watch House of Frankenstein from 1944.
  • Breakfast was my usual bowl of porridge with a dab of butter. Lunch was a banana sandwich on multigrain and poppyseed bread.

Felt a bit peckish mid afternoon, so couple of buttery crumpets with butter and honey were consumed. I haven't had crumpets for years, but felt like some this week.

Cheery husband cooks dinner on Sunday night, so we've just had a very tasty curried sausages and rice. White rice for the boys and brown for me.

Breakfast and lunch will be the same tomorrow, but in the evening it will be spaghetti bolognaise. We always eat this on Monday nights as a hangover from when I used to walk with friends and Cheery son would get this cooked while I was out and about.

So far today: CAKE along with post-church coffee, and a bacon roll for brunch.

Supper will be a Chinese takeaway at my niece's, to celebrate my great-niece's birthday.

Breakfast was easy and quick. About a cup of fat-free organic vanilla yogurt with berry sauce. This is my every day first meal. I used to put raw berries in the yogurt, but with the parasite problem, I started cooking them. I think I like this way even better!
  • The leftover dhal didn't get eaten today as Mr RoS stayed for lunch at church. We will have it tomorrow, with the pittas I didn't defrost yesterday.

Instead I had the last of the mini pork pies, a chunk of cheddar cheese, tomatoes & cucumber. Will probably have a watercress sandwich this evening, as Elder Son has been given a catering sized pack and brought us a couple of bunches. He brought some homemade soup, too. That will be my lunch tomorrow.
  • 3:29 PM. Breakfast: Trader Joe’s maple pecan granola (because it’s fall). Coffee. Today: grading stuff, sending out weekly announcements, dishes, laundry, kitchen, reading. I have managed to dodge the Internet for the most part so far and I would really like to start getting up earlier than I have been somehow. Watching Teen Titans Go Halloween episodes.
  • Breakfast was orange juice, toasted raisin bread and coffee.
Took Beaky daughter number three out for lunch and had delicious seafood ravioli and foccacia bread and a glass of white wine.
Then this evening lemon coriander hummus and crisps.
Tomorrow I will redress the balance and eat enty of vegetables!
  • Lunch was our usual Sunday lunch of fresh baguette and assorted cheeses (Camembert, blue Stilton and a French soft goats’ cheese), chorizo, and olive houmous. We started having cold Sunday lunches instead of roast dinner because we were attending the late morning church service and the habit stuck with us even though we have attended the replacement evening service since lockdown.
Tea was a couple of slices of pizza at church after the evening service. We always have food at the evening service in term time, paid for with voluntary donations.

Breakfast was cereal with added raspberries, blueberries, plums and prunes. Lunch was a vegan sausage roll from a well known high street bakers. Tea was vegan Kyiv, hash browns and runner beans fresh picked from our garden. There were a couple of glasses of wine involved as well.
  • Fish and chips for dinner!
  • FirenzeFirenze Shipmate, Host Emeritus
    Breakfast, croissant and coffee.

Lunch, crunchy salad (cucumber, radish, red pepper and mange tout) topped with crispy fried guanciale.

Dinner, pan-fried trout and sauté potato. Apple crumble with apples from the garden. South African Sauvignon Blanc.
  • I had to look guanciale up. My experience of pork cheek is in delicious casseroles and now I want to seek some of this for a carbonara.
(Oh yes, the delivery company I use has it in stock!)
  • Breakfast was Greek yogurt, avocado toast and coffee, Lunch, usually my larger meal each day, Asian stir fry with veggies, rice noodles, and shrimp. This evening green beans, tomatoes, and onions from my garden. Treat a piece of fresh warm sour dough bread, with pumpkin spice butter.

It works very well in carbonara. Hereabouts Lidl stock it.
  • 3:11 AM. Dinner: the remainder of last night’s beans and rice and corn, mixed with some peppers and pickled garlic and broken up veggie burgers, with donuts to follow for dessert.

Guanciale is one vital thing for carbonara. The other is the skill to do the egg and cheese sauce without cream!

  • Dinner yesterday was a Sunday roast featuring a leg of lamb that Mrs Rogue bought last Easter because the price was silly and stuck in the freezer.

Breakfast today was a bowl of cereal as usual and I am about to eat my lunchtime sandwiches because it is lunchtime which is why I'm aboard the Ship.

Carbonara is my favorite way to prepare pasta. I can make it, but if I’m in a restaurant and see it on the menu, I always ask the server if it’s prepared with cream or milk or the like. If the answer is “yes,” I order something else.

Breakfast: a couple of slices of leftover baguette with butter, orange juice.

Lunch: cheese & onion sarnie from Tessie's, Twix bar, fizzy water.

Supper: smoked haddock fishcakes with mixed veggies, glass of NZ Sauv blanc.

    Breakfast, coffee and waffles.

Lunch, ham and cheese toastie, pear.

Dinner, Tuscan sausage in tomato sauce over pasta. Spanish red.
  • 4:45 pm. Argh distracted by internet. Breakfast: Cereal.
  • Latte for breakfast as usual and a rather unorthodox lunch of a cinnamon danish pastry at my work desk. But tea was chicken sausage stroganoff to make up for it.
As Mr Heavenly is away on business in the US, there are leftovers for lunch tomorrow.
  • My usual breakfast.
Lunch was the soup Elder son made yesterday: Watercress & potato with little cubes of feta floating in it. Rather too salty for me, possibly on account of the feta. Followed it with the last slice of a coffee & walnut cake to take away the salty taste, but that just swapped too salty for too sweet.
Dinner - the sweet potato & spinach dhal that was meant for lunch yesterday with french beans from the garden and the defrosted pitta. Followed by a Magnum.
