<votive> Prayers for the entire Image family ascending

Thank you, RooK. I'll always take grace wherever I can find it. (Galilit, I need to find out what he drinks and send along a bottle...)

Thank you, Climacus. I am surrounded by kindnesses.

  • Thanks all. Much better today, lubs, tubes, and pills all figured out. Neighbors bringing food and making drug store runs. Mr Image is in far less pain, no doubt partly because I am not poking around on him.

Oh, @Graven Image - I am so relieved to hear that. You all remain in my prayers.

As for me, well, the deed is done: Hair today, gone tomorrow. Happily, I found my comfy cashmere watch cap. It's a little depressing, but at least I won't have to spend as much time in the shower going forward.

  • Aw Ross - an effort putting a brave face on that one? #teamRossweisse

@Graven Image That sounds scary - good that you've managed the learning curve and are now coping

If only wigs didn't itch on a bare scalp... It just takes some getting used to. Fortunately, I can wear a hat or scarf most of the time.

  • Rossweisse, would one of those silk wig cap liners help with the itch?
  • RossweisseRossweisse Hell Host, 8th Day Host, Glory
Graven Image, I don't know about those. (When I was singing in the opera and wearing wigs on a regular basis, I put my hair in pincurls and put a stocking cap over it; said wigs were then pinned to the whole. This is a different world.) Can you tell me more?

You might do a search as I know there are several different models.
  • I am not much troubled by hair at the north pole, but farther south I have a persistent tender bald patch from the radiation that I feed with moisturising cream. This has worked pretty well at reducing the itching.
  • RossweisseRossweisse Hell Host, 8th Day Host, Glory
Thanks, GI. I will take a closer look at that.
  • Mr Image did well in surgery and no chemo needed as followup. Tumor was fully contained inside of kidney. Thank you all for your support, you were a big help to me. We are home free until bladder check in 4 months and follow up CT scan in six months. Let the healing begin. Continued prayers for those of you still in the battle.

  • Great news!
  • What great news, Graven Image! Prayers for continued healing.

    That's awesome news, Graven Image!
  • This is deeply deeply minor, but ,,,, we're trying to rule out cancer, um, in me. And it probably isn't. But i'm a bit freaked out. I probably hear tomorrow.
  • Not minor at all, LC! Prayers ascending.
  • You have every right to be freaked out - but I pray for a peace, underlying it...

    (<votive for LC>)

    Not knowing is pants....

<votive> for Bishop J, undergoing surgery/treatment for the early stages of bowel cancer. Looking good, so far - he is AIUI nicely on the mend.

(votive) also for Brother B, in the final stages of bowel cancer. Not long now.
  • Holding LC, Rossweisse and all those going through the valley of the shadow of cancer in the light of God's love.

    {{{{LC}}}} I'm here for you.

I had a ScanFest today. I don't have the Official Word yet, but my friendly internist looked at the results and said that the bones and liver look stable, and that my fear that the cancer had moved into my lungs was unfounded. I do have pneumonia. Who would have thought that a diagnosis of pneumonia was good news?

  • Good news, Ross!

Indeed. Hurrah! (though sympathy for the pneumonia...sorry to ask a dumb question, but can cancer compromise your immunity leading to more risk of other nasties?)

I don't know if cancers themselves compromise the immune system, but some treatments surely do. It's one of the questions the oncologist should be asked before the chemical warfare begins (says he who thinks he knows what he's talking about).
  • How strange to be saying glad it is only pneumonia, but thanksgiving it is. May you recover quickly Ross. Chemo as I understand makes your immune system weaker.
  • Thinking of you
  • Thank you Stercus Tauri and Graven Image.
  • LC, I pray that it isn't cancer...but if it is, God will give you the strength to deal with what needs to be dealt with. Life can be total Shit sometimes...
  • They say it's not cancer. Thank you SO MUCH for praying for me. (What it is, is a pain in the butt, but minor comparatively speaking.)

Yes, my immune system is total crap. My understanding is that most of it is due to the treatment and some is from the disease itself.

Anyway, I'm taking my meds and imagining that I feel better already.

@Lamb Chopped - Deo gratias! (I always pray for you, but I'm glad we don't have to go there.)

  • Me, too! (are you safe to have someone come over? I've got sinusitis, but no contagious cold)
  • RossweisseRossweisse Hell Host, 8th Day Host, Glory
Sure thing (as long as you're not infectious)!

  • PigletPiglet All Saints Host, Circus Host
LC, so glad to hear what it isn't. Prayers continuing that whatever it is will Go Away. You really don't need it.
  • It's possibly fibroids. Which is sucky only if they act up, which they may not. Waiting on bloodwork to find out if I was wrong in thinking I was already menopausal...

A friend has died of multiple myeloma. He was diagnosed when his son was a year old and told to put his affairs in order, as the doctors then estimated he'd live maybe a year. He beat tremendous odds; his son is 14. But dear God: his son is 14.
  • Sad, sad, sad...but what a victory!~
  • I am so sorry, Ruth.

My thoughts and warmest wishes to you and the family.
  • So sad for all Ruth, grace and peace to all who loved him. What a warrior to live into his fatherhood for so many years.
  • I'm sorry, Ruth.

I am so sorry, Ruth. Cancer is the very devil.

He wasn't a person, but a beloved member of our family died from cancer yesterday. Rossweisse is right, cancer is the very devil.

Rest in peace, beautiful boy, Prince Charming. I hope you and your brother, Snickerdoodle (also a cancer victim), are playing and napping together somewhere over the Rainbow Bridge.

    Despicable, evil disease.
