Can't take credit for the info or its power, but it takes some little time to put this together every day. I public-post it on Facebook every day too. Few responses or reactions there.
If you wish to take this piece of activism forward, perhaps you could set up a twitter account and tweet the same info. You could then @ the major news outlets into the tweet - maybe using ‘is it time yet’ as a hashtag.
This format would fit in their character limit:

Back to zero. Fortunately, no deaths, but four injuries.
Two days seems to be our upper limit, and in this case, I collected data between midnight and 1 a.m. before the archive had counted this. Apparently I really do have to wait until breakfast to post these reports, though I dislike starting my day with this task.

Ohher, I find the stats you post really depressing, but I figure that as you have made a commitment to doing so, the least I can do is make a commitment to reading them, Thank you.

Ohher, while I'm grateful to you for posting this stuff, I'm worried about the effect it might be having on you. Are you ok? And my apologies if I'm being patronising.
Thanks you for your concern, Robert (and I do appreciate it), but given the state our entire planet is in (to say nothing of the so-called government of the once-semi-reasonable country I inhabit), plus the fact that I live in an open-carry, concealed-carry state with almost NO gun restrictions (though with very low incidence of gun violence), plus the fact that the community college where I start the fall semester Monday morning has just installed LOCKDOWN buttons all over campus, I'll cope. (Like there's an alternative.)
I await with grim amusement the moment this term when some wet-behind-the-ears 18-year-old doofus from East New Overshoe locates one of these eye-catching neon purple lockdown buttons and hits it to see what will happen (or to get out of a quiz, or whatever).
Frankly, that is far and away the likeliest use of these devices.
I am now launching a search for another way to earn my bread, because at the end of this academic year I hope to retire from our little fear factory college.

Ohher, this is chilling reading. I had no idea it was so bad...
Yes, but. Keep in mind these stats include a Saturday night, when people are apt to have imbibed more alcohol than is advisable, and parts of the US are dealing with extreme heat, which always seems to up the gun violence rates.
That said, stats for 8/24 also include 3 mass shootings (in Florida, Massachusetts, and Maryland) accounting for 3 deaths and 12 injuries.

Whoa! Three days! (I know it's sad that we should be celebrating a measly 3 days without a mass shooting, and plenty of people die in onesy-twosy shootings as well. Call it black humor to cope with the horrible reality.)
We've got a three-day weekend (for Labor Day) this weekend, Often means (too much) alcohol, short tempers, traffic, possibly hot weather, road rage, a weekend that's both too long and not long enough*, arguments and people-messes, etc. Add in guns of any kind...
(:paranoid:)
*Americans typically have fewer holidays off (paid or unpaid) and less paid vacation than Europeans. So a three-day weekend is a big deal, sometimes occasioned with much grumping about having to go back to work, and Other People having it easier.

I know; I was shocked. I had to check the site pages 2-3 times (and wondered if maybe someone at Gun Violence Archive was out sick, so no updates) because for the first time since I started this there was less than one full page of stats to add up (there are usually 3 pages).
Sadly, GK is probably right: we may well "catch up" over the holiday weekend.

Major live active shooter event in Odessa Texas at the moment.
Alas, yes. I heard this on the news -- at least 20 victims, as many as 5 deaths -- while checking my stats and discovering something's not adding up. I'm trying to figure out what's wrong, and also to redesign my format (now that school's back in full swing).
It's a bit after 8 p.m. where I'm posting. There have been 5, FIVE mass shootings this Saturday so far, in Maryland (0 dead, 4 injured), North Carolina (1 dead, 3 injured), Pennsylvania (2 dead, 2 injured), South Carolina (0 dead, 4 injured), and Texas (5 dead, 21 injured).
Somehow I don't think any form of protest, disagreement, upset, mass murder will make any difference. A prior story was how to make schools like prisons so that a success would be fewer people killed. Ohher, your posts are wrenching, so they signify anything? So bad. So frustrating.
Makes me wonder if random gun murders are good for business there. Guns, bullets, coffins, security systems, those sorts of things. Seem to recall that there was a run on some gadget that makes semi automatic rifles operate like automatics after that Las Vegas mass murder. Do guns also sell more after someone does big killing? Are more dead people better for business? :throw-up:
It means changing our culture. I have been looking at TV schedules for weeks now, looking for something entertaining to watch in the odd free evening. I used to complain about all the brain-dead sitcoms; then switched my ire to "reality" TV, but now? Granted, I have a low-budget cable subscription, but the crime dramas are vastly outnumbering everything else. You can scarcely turn the TV on through umpty-leven channels without viewing gun violence.
It means challenging the myth of redemptive violence.
It means changing our language. I just this minute almost typed, "It means shooting down the myth of . . . " instead of "changing the myth of the Lone Hero Good Guy Slaughtering All the Bad Guys to Solve All the Problems." It means not talking about "fighting" for everything in our political discourse, but "working" for it instead. It means we stop claiming we're "fighting" our diabetes, our cancer, our heart disease, our assorted other ills, instead of saying we're "treating" these. It means demanding that our media stop presenting complex multifaceted issues as one side "fighting" some other.
It means we start requiring that people who wish to own guns be required to purchase liability policies starting at $100,000. One per firearm. Can't show proof of insurance for the WWI Luger Gramps passed down to you? You get every firearm you own confiscated.
It means limiting the amounts of ammo you can legally store in your residence(s).
It means you submit to annual (at least) inspections of your storage, collections, ammo stockpiles, etc. It means you show up for 2 hours minimum of monthly target practice at a registered gun range if you want to own firearms.
It means every ownership transfer of every firearm gets registered, and a background check is performed with every transfer.
It means that police who retire and military personnel who separate from their services surrender their service weapons, and these surrenders are registered.
There was an Ohio dad who reported his teen son last Wednesday for possibly taking a gun to school. He did have a gun, and it was confiscated. Reportedly, no one knows where he got it, nor what (if anything) he planned to do.
