Not really, @piglet, I was thinking more of a state of being either in Glasgow or in Edinburgh but not anywhere in between except a vague state between sleep and wakeing. Although sometimes I may materialise on a train stopped at Linlithgow. I really should visit Linlithgow sometime soon.

I'm a foreigner, a Michigander from the U.S. I live in the entirely unexotic middle of my state, right smack dab in the middle corn and soy bean fields and of the Great Lakes Basin, which I take to be the center of the universe. Which is how I wish everyone could feel about their home place.
I'm a baptist type Christian at a Presby church, who both loves and is endlessly frustrated by the broader church in the U.S.
I'm fairly new to the world of fora, in contrast to many who seem to have been in them since home dialup became available. Have participated in a different U.S. based christian forum for a few years and wonder, if there might be room for broader conversations here. I learned of the Ship from Martin54 and have been around the Ship in a limited way for a little while.
In the last year one book has lead to another, and reopened opportunity to investigate christians writing well/faithfully/accurately about postmodernism, something that's been on hold for over 20 years (review will be required on everything), and a wade into Kierkegaard. Ok. I jumped off the deep end with Fear and Trembling, which I finished in May after 6 months! I'd be interested in talking with folks with similar interests, who are patient.
I look forward to getting acquainted with the Ship's crew and passengers. There are a whole lot of you.

I'm in the West Midlands of the UK and am a high church type of Anglican (with bells, smells, confession etc), but admit to being really drawn to Orthodoxy.

I enjoy cooking, crime fiction and drama, coffee and swimming.

Like you I am still very attached to the Quaker way of spirituality. Less so, perhaps, to some of the, er, other aspects.
