And then there are those who should have been, but weren't born in Scotland (entirely due to Adolph Hitler in my case). Good to see the Ship's Scottish complement being strengthened.
Hello again, wow, what a blast from the past! Great to see you and am sure a host person will be along to welcome you back any minute.
Thank you! ❤️ After some rough experiences with a couple of … not very nice… Christian Facebook groups, I realized I should come back and post here. It’s been too long. You guys have literally been part of my life for decades (I’ve been in touch with a bunch of Shipmates on Facebook but it’s not the same as a forum), even for years before I met Cubby.
Yes, as one who pops in and out but rarely engages nowadays, I sometimes miss the days of the Old Ship, but us oldies are still on board as I’m sure you’ll discover. Yes, plenty on Facebook too, though I can’t always work out who’s who/
I've just read your post in Hell. It sort of reminded me the prodigal son. I hope you stick around for a while as I enjoy your posts.
C.S Lewis, writing about death, says (something like) if there are 3 friends (A, B and C) and A dies then B not only loses A, but also loses what A brought out in C.
I think it can be a bit like that on the Ship when someone leaves, but at least they sometimes return.
Hey everybody, about a month-long lurker who has finally made the plunge to come aboard. I'm a soon-to-be (in a couple weeks) college graduate and parish musician at a small-medium broad church Episcopal parish in the American Midwest. Mostly here for Ecclesiantics, MW, and other such hijinks, as I'm not much of one for discussing politics on the internet, so will likely stay on the more fun side of the boards.
If you've been lurking, you probably have an idea of what we're all about, but a look at the 10 Commandments and FAQ pages (links on the homepage) will tell you all you need to know about what's what and who's who on the various boards.
Thank you all for the warm welcome! And yes, @Piglet , I've thoroughly read all that 🙂. I would say I'm looking forward to doing some MWing of my own, but having a church position makes that a little tricky...

Coming back again 😆, I see I posted another coming back message here in 2020!
This return (to what I still think are new boards) was prompted by unexpectedly running into Alan Cresswell on Facebook, and also by big life upheaval stuff I’ve had in the last year or two.
Hello again, lovely shipmates!
Came back after seeing on Facebook the deeply sad news about both Rossweisse and Robert Armin, and discovered some others I remembered from back in the day had also passed on.
Browsing the boards I realised that I had joined when I was a young evangelical student (I graduated in 2000) posted throughout a large slice of my 20s while I was working for the orchestra of All Souls, Langham Place and still feel a connection to the Ship. I think it made me open to different strokes of Christianity, and although I haven’t attended church at all for nearly a decade, I wouldn’t say I’m not a Christian any more. I do often think of people here, and it’s still a pretty unique and special place, think I’m going to return and see what’s shaking here, where there’s a bit more depth and connection than on most social media (I waste way too much of my free time on Facebook & Twitter!)
It’s a mark of how little I’ve been here that the new boards are still new and weird to me!
i always enjoyed reading your posts, ChastMastr, I think it’s likely they were part of opening twenty-something evangelical inerrantist me to different ways to live an authentic Christian faith from the evangelical church norm, as were others on the Ship.
It was pointed out on another thread that the Welcome thread seems to have fallen into the briny during the move, so here's a nice shiny new one.
If you're new to the Ship, or back after a break, do please introduce yourself here and we'll point you in the direction of the teapot/drinks cabinet/comfy sofa.
Hi all! My name is Toby and I live in Sheringham, North Norfolk, UK. I found you through a recommendation by my LLM Mentor, as I have just been invited to start training from August! I am retired (from advertising & PR, teaching and retail management, respectively), so variously busier than ever. I write a blog, read voraciously, work with dogs (for friends), walk a lot and am passionate about being an ambassador of Christ's Kingdom of Heaven-and-Earth! A glance around reassures me I am with Family here. Thanks for this amazing space.
Hi Toby, Welcome, just remember that families often have a batty Great Aunt, obnoxious cousins and an uncle you wish lived in Outer Mongolia and you'll be OK.
A warm welcome from me too @Toby Perks . If you haven't already have a look at the Ten Commandents. We're a friendly bunch and looking forward to sailing with you.

Hopefully to do more than pop in and then flit away again every few years…

You've been here even longer than I have, so I don't really need to point you in the direction of FAQs and 10 Commandments.
Good to see you back with us - happy sailing!

Thank you! ❤️ Glad to be back! ❤️

I've been drifting in and out in recent days. May or may not become a regular poster again
(On the Old Ship, I was Oscar the Grouch)

Might I ask what LLM is? (In my world, it means “Master of Laws,” but I’m guessing that’s not what’s meant here.)
Aw 🥹 Thank you so much!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🤗
