Reappearing after a long absence to give thanks that I am still here after a cancer diagnosis took over 2022, and recovery from the after effects of the treatment a lot of 2023. Hope to be around a bit more, and am happy to hear the various bits of good news on the most recent page of this thread.
It's good to see you back, especially after that nasty episode. Prayers that the treatnent has been effective and that you continue your recovery ( and yes, so much of the treatment seems to have all sorts of nasty side effects).
After kind of hiding inside a lot for way too long, and especially being isolated after Cubby’s passing, I am finally making it out to leather and bear events again. Starting to meet new people! 😀 Tomorrow is my 26th anniversary of meeting Daddy Vern, and conveniently there is a leather night at a local bar (on a Thursday, of all things), so definitely going to that…
Enjoy reconnecting @ChastMastr! I know a few friends bereaved during the Covid lockdown who are beginning to make new friends, plan vacations, start dating again.
Today I watched the livestream of the funeral service of the person who had the biggest influence on my Christian life. Miss G was my English teacher when I was 16, a shining example of lived Christianity, who gave me a vision of a faith that was less about dressing smartly for church and more about an intellectual quest to understand God. She could not have said anything more likely to win round the rather bookish, awkward adolescent me.
Many thanks for all your prayers, I am now back home, alive if still groggy from the generaal anaesthetic.
The operation to try to seal in the old mitral valve took a lot, lot longer than expected and I ended up in critical care. They aren't sure whether the operation was successful; we will know in a couple of weeks or so if there is an improvement in in heart function (breathless ness and tiredness)
I’m hoping all is not too bad so they can plan the next trickier procedure of valve replacement. Meanwhile I have strict instructions to rest ….. not easy ... lots to do ....

I'd been looking out for an update @RockyRoger, good to hear from you. Do get as much rest as possible.
Had a phone call from a delightful Papworth cardiac nurse. My next operation - the truly scary one to replace the horridly faulty valve - is being brought forward two months to latish April.
Very pleased. But scared ..... Lord have mercy.
Five years ago my brother had an operation for bowel cancer which due to various complications ended up with him being in hospital for most of the next eighteen months. I received a message from my brother today to say the last tests have shown he is still cancer free and that is all is well. I am so happy for him.
Mrs Feet has had her application for Adult Disability Payment approved, and can now look forward both to extra income and other assistance such as a blue badge. Hooray for the new Scottish Social Security.
I just accomplished my first shower since I broke my foot on the 10th. I feel much better to be clean, even though it took some work and using a shower chair.
Dear brothers and sisters, thank you all for your prayers. These are really appreciated and helped me and Mrs RR through an unexpected time in critical care.
Thanks to the surgeons' skill, nursing care and everyone's prayers (all signs of Our Dear Lord's love) A new heart valve was (at last!) succesfully fitted and working well. I am now home, more than a little battered and bruised and with strict instructions to rest and recover, which may take some time.
So ... plenty of time to pray ..... Lord have mercy!
The yearly apartment inspection was unexpectedly announced the day before it was to happen and the apartment was a ghastly ghastly mess that I haven’t been able to get under control for a long time. A friend of mine, God bless him, because right now my finances are rather poor (and are going to be worse this summer, but that’s for the prayer request thread), paid for a local cleaning service for me for the same day. The inspection happened and the only issue is the way the cats have damaged the Venetian blinds (I will have to pay for the replacement but I suspect my friend will help with that too—if not, that may need a gofundme…), rather than… basically everything.
(The complex charges a lower rent because of federal tax breaks, but the government has to make sure it’s not being run like a slum, so every year there’s a government inspection in which they pick 17 apartments at random—so the complex does its own inspection of every single apartment beforehand to make sure there are no needed repairs, but also housekeeping. Every year I panic…)

So thanks be to God for my friend! ❤️
I note amoungst all your other graces you too have cats .... and this is how they repay you!
Our Dear Lord is surely looking after you my friend .....

@ChastMastr - Some people who rent here in NZ have regular inspections every few months. If that happened when I was renting I would have ended up living on the street forever.
Good friends are one of the biggest blessings in my life.
I'm so relieved. My heat pump is working. Somehow I was under the impression it had died. Winter fuel allowance payments start in a week or so, which is I am really grateful for.

Congratulations for the Tamen household.
Rise in glory, GG.

I hope you can remind us again beforehand.
Good for Mrs Feet, @Arethosemyfeet!

(Having quietly noted your worrying situation but not commented.)
I wish you the swiftest of recoveries.
Absolutely!

After a miserable few days in a horrid, quiet world, all of a sudden I was hearing again, even before putting my hearing aids back in.
Much relieved piglet
I'm so pleased for you.
