Earworm? 🐛

  • (As a side note, I actually thought that that lyric was “four bananas make a bunch of sodas any more,” which I thought was perhaps some non-local (to me) dialect or slang, until I looked it up to paste it in just now.)
  • One banana, two banana, three banana, four
Four bananas make a bunch and so do many more
Over hill and highway the banana buggies go
Coming on to bring you the Banana Splits show

This has in my head for about half an hour.

I actual kind of like it. Sang it in the shower.

    Enjoy! 😈

In fairness, it is a brilliant theme tune, because it totally gets stuck in your head.
  • Sixties crime/espionage series have the best themes, and Man in a Suitcase is the best of those.
I don’t mind it being an earworm.

Oh yeah. And then it gets muddled up with Bob Marley’s “Buffalo Soldier.”

Meanwhile, I’ll note that I was an official, card-carrying member of The Banana Splits Fan Club.
I’ve had a persistent earworm for quite a while now, triggered every time I check “Recent Discussions” on the Ship and see a particular thread started by @"Amanda B Reckondwyth".

It could be worse. It could be much worse.

If the five hymns we,had last Sunday, four were quite decent, so obviously the one I've got as an earworm is the other one ... 🙄
  • Due to a dream, the lyrics to 1916 keep on reciting themselves in the back of my head. Listened to one version. Maybe if I listen to the other version I know of it'll stop for a while.
  • For about a week now, my persistent earworm has been „Der Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen“ (“Hell’s vengeance boils in my heart”), more commonly known as “The Queen of the Night Aria,” from Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute).

Not sure what gave rise to a rage aria—and not just any rage aria, but the pinnacle of rage arias—as an earworm.

  • At the moment: “Fame” (I wanna live forever, etc.).

Dear Irene Cara, gone too soon.

The famous scene of the students dancing on the street outside was actually filmed to Donna Summer’s “Hot Stuff” as the song “Fame” wasn’t ready.
  • Does anyone else make up other words to their ear worms? Today, to the tune of EPCOT’s “Canada, My Canada,” I’ve been doing “Ham-i-sters, in can-i-sters, we will watch them as they slide down all the ban-nis-ters
”

I do - although my version of that one is:
    “Canada, my Canada
It’s a word that doesn’t really rhyme with traveller”

My earworms tend to be whatever music I'm working on, trying to get my hands, fingers and brain reconnected. Two nights ago, there was a piano concerto earworm playing over and over, looping around and starting over as these things tend to do. The surprising thing was that it wasn't any of the composers that I've been butchering lately.

All of a sudden my brain gave me the answer; Brahms' second piano concerto. Not typical of other earworms in that it wasn't something I'd heard lately. It's been at least ten years since I last enjoyed that concerto!

Because I was thinking about Facebook, “Facebook the musical“ is currently in my head. It’s quite relevant

  • Currently, “Ta ra ra boom de ay,” but just those syllables and no other words, though the children’s version I grew up with on the playground in the 1970s springs to mind.
