It makes me quite nostalgic for the medieval way of dealing with failed politicians. Even as late as the early 18th century, there was some hope. Now we give them huge pensions and call them 'statesmen.'

Not that I wish any harm to come to the deserters, no, not at all, apart from perhaps some of the suffering they've imposed on the country they've ruled. Ruined would be a better word...
