Despite arguing at times against involvement of clergy in politics, he nevertheless had some controversial affiliations with politically active organizations in the late 1930s, and engaged with national political candidates and their campaigns, having influence on some, including personal friendships with Presidents Richard Nixon and Donald Trump.
Nixon and Trump. I think that says enough.
I would read into the record that Trump was nowhere near elected office at any point during Peale's lifetime, . . . .
Sure, but he was an influence on a young Donald Trump.
There have recently been some references on YouTube political cartoon channels to Trump declaring the Moon to be US property (the 51st state, as he can't get Canada?).

Has he actually, and seriously, said this?
He posted a Truth Social last week with a picture of the moon with Earth in the background, captioned THE MOON IS OURS with a small US flag appended.
So, yes, he has informally made the claim, but nothing else. I wonder if this is the sorta top-level inside info that Truth Social is charging 100 grand a month to preview.

Not in so many words. He posted a picture of the moon with the words “The Moon Is Ours” and an American flag on Truth Social. That was the extent of it; no executive order or anything like that.
As for whether he’s serious, who knows. I think he’s serious about trying to make sure people are talking about anything other than the economy, the price of gas, tariffs, the war in Iran, ICE, Cuba, Trump’s self-enrichment, Epstein . . . .
I swear, I think that if Donald Trump issued an Executive Order declaring himself Dictator For Life and suspending the operation of the Constitution, Alito and Thomas would write an opinion saying that that is fully within Trump's powers as President.
So the big baby-in-chief has closed the Kennedy Center because those big bad judges won't let him put his name on it.
Blaming, of course, everyone but himself. The Kennedy Center is on the brink of bankruptcy not because he can't have his name on it, but precisely because putting his name on it has resulted in act cancellations and canceled subscriptions.

And people take the bait every time.
Let me get this straight.
Russian tanks run on diesel fuel.
Ukraine has every right to defend itself
by destroying enemy fuel stockpiles.
Seems like Mr T. wants Ukraine to fight
with one arm tied behind its back.
Oh, wait, it is already fighting
with one arm behind its back.
Might as well tie down one leg too.

Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair...
